MINUTES OF THE
BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT
NOVEMBER 7, 1984
The Board of Adjustment of the City of Paris met Wednesday, November 7, 1984
at 5:00 P.M. in the Council Room, City Hall, Paris, Texas with the following
members present:
1. F.D. Mallory, III.
2. Spencer Abbett
3. Bill Lightfoot
4. Richard Nafe
5. John Williams, Jr.
6. Alec Woods
Also present were Joe McCollum, Director of Community Development for the
city.
Chairman Mallory called the meeting to order and opened the public hearing
on the petition of Richard Hunt for a variance to Section 13 -101 b of the
Zoning Ordinance on Lot 7, City Block 69 located at 540 Fitzhugh.
Mr. Hunt outlined his proposal to tear down an existing garage at the house
and rebuild one large enough to house two cars of standard size. He said the
present garage was not large enough for todays standards and that it was
approximately 3 feet from the north side property line at this time. He stated
he needed to place the structure 1 foot from the line at the front of the
garage and 2 foot from the line at the rear of the garage. Roof overhang
would be 10" to allow for guttering and drainage away from his neighbor.
Mr. Tom Hagood, resident adjacent to the proposed garage stated no objection
to it being 1 foot from the line instead of 5 foot required. He indicated
he planned an addition to his house in that area and it would not interfere
with his plans.
No one else was present to speak and the public hearing was closed.
Discussion followed and Mtn.. Williams made a motion to allow the variance. Mr.
Nafe seconded the motion which carried 6 ayes, 0 nays.
There being no other business, the meeting was adjourned.
e N. McCollum
e retary ex- officio
