City Manager Malone also <br />pointed out that we have had Councils that wanted to do more, and <br />people have come and asked for things such as the Gateway Project, <br />the Children Advocacy Center asking for money for support, and when <br />the City Council wants to do that, they have found ways to accomplish <br />those things. People have come in saying that this town does not have <br />any recreation, and the City has built a swimming pool, and built it a lot <br />cheaper than anyone else has done, and it looks great and is serving <br />a great function. We have the community building things such as the <br />Think Child Safety. The best Small City in Texas did not get there <br />because the City of Paris did not work towards that effort. <br />Chairman Pfiester called the attention of the Committee to the City <br />Attorney's budget. City Manager Malone went over the line items with <br />the Committee which were basically carried forward. Under the <br />Capital Outlay account, he said there is a desk for the Prosecutor, desk <br />chairs for the City Attorney's office and a lateral filing cabinet for the <br />Legal Assistant. Under Machinery, Tools and Equipment there is a new <br />computer for the Legal Secretary, a ink jet printer for the Prosecutor, <br />and there were law books also budgeted. <br />The City Clerk went over her budget with the Committee pointing out <br />an increase in office supplies of $1,000.00 due to requirements of the <br />use of bank note paper, which is required to be used for certified <br />copies of birth and death records. There was an increase in <br />communication due to the cost of the fire alarm, and the internet for <br />issuance of birth certificates from anywhere in the state. Under Capital <br />Outlay one lateral file and binders for the birth and death records were <br />noted. <br />Gene Anderson, Director of Finance, pointed out from the budget of his <br />department, the capital items of desks and chairs that he iasking for <br />are for the clerks in his office. Mr. Anderson explained that the ones <br />they are using came from Camp Maxey and there is a need for <br />replacement of those. Mr. Anderson said he needed new file cabinets <br />for storage of additional records. Mr. Anderson stated that as far as <br />the up -grade to the AS400 Computer, which is the main computer on <br />
