Regardless of the location, we are out of space, have no storage, and the entire department is tremendously hampered by separation. It hurts communication, mandates duplication of office equipment, and causes needless delays due to driving back and forth. This project needs to move. 4. Our shop was designed to work on fire trucks. Instead it is blocked by boats, lawn mowers, and all the other "stuff' that should be stored in a separate area. This is a hindrance to work. It is also and more importantly, a distinct safety hazard due to fuel and oil storage, trip hazards, and the crowded work areas. I've shown $35,000.00 because everyone wanted to build a "pretty" storage building. This doesn't have to be. We can build an attractive metal building much cheaper and the department will be entirely satisfied. 1001 Furniture and Fixtures $1,500.00 $1,000.00 is for 10 additional tables for the training room. Our training programs and other uses in the facility have grown. The need for more tables has become a regular occurrence. One computer desk for the department secretary is added; $500.00. 1002 MACHINERY, TOOLS, AND EQUIPMENT 1 Ea. Fire Proof Safe $1,000.00 This item is requested for the pension office, Station One. The records kept are vital and require protective storage. 6 Ea. Breathing apparatus, each with extra bottle $22,500.00 These are replacement units and follow the plan made three years ago to phase out the older air packs. This is a priority request due to the age of the units being replaced. Just this month, seven of the composite bottles reached their 15 year life and had to be destroyed. The extra bottles requested will simply replace those already lost.
