2 <br />No one else was present to speak on the matter and the public <br />hearing was closed. <br />Following discussion a motion was made by Mr. Fendley, seconded by <br />Mr. Powell to recommend approval of the petition. The motion <br />carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Chairman Nutt next opened the public hearing on the petition of <br />John Travis for a change in zoning from a One Family Dwelling <br />District No. 2 (SF -2) to a Neighborhood Service District (NS) on <br />Lots 25 and 26, Block 3, Mayer Addition located at 50 N.W. 32nd <br />Street. <br />Mr. Travis was present and told the Commission he wanted to utilize <br />the existing church building at this location for an office. He <br />said his company sold full service water treatment systems for <br />homes and businesses. He said there would be 18 employees at the <br />office but very little in and out traffic since no product would <br />be sold at that location. <br />Will G. Prunty, 65 N.W. 31st, objected to any business locating so <br />near his house if it involved retail sales. He said he would not <br />object to an office use. <br />Mr. McCollum advised the Commission that a Neighborhood Service <br />classification was requested because of the existing Neighborhood <br />Service zoning adjacent to the property on the southside. He <br />pointed out that office use was permitted in that district. <br />Mr. Clifford commented on the problem of using abandoned church <br />buildings for other uses and pointed out that office use may be the <br />best alternative. <br />Mr. Fendley ask Mr. Travis if he would like to amend his request <br />to an Office Zoning. Mr. Travis was in agreement to that change <br />and the public hearing was closed. <br />Following discussion, Mr. Fendley made a motion to recommend <br />approval of Office Zoning instead of Neighborhood Service. Ms. <br />Ausbie seconded the motion which carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Chairman Nutt declared the public hearing open on the petition of <br />Chance, Inc. for a change in zoning from a Multi - Family Dwelling <br />District No. 1 (MF -1) to a Multi- Family Dwelling District No. 1 <br />(MF -1) and Specific Use Permits- Institutions of Religious or <br />Philanthropic Nature (24) and Day Care Center (25) on Lots 6,7 and <br />8, City Block 151, located at 681 S.W. 7th Street. <br />
