Two hours of training credits are given for verified attendance at the monthly district association meetings when the meetings include a training session related to wastewater utilities. It is the responsibility of each individual to maintain an accurate and up -to -date list of his/her training hours, including the name, location and date of the training course and who taught the course. EXPERIENCE Experience must be actual wastewater treatment facility or collection system experience and not experience which is non - operational in nature. credit for related experience not directly connected with operation or maintenance will be approved at a rate of fifty percent (50 %) of actual experience. Experience accrued exclusively in collection system operation and maintenance is not applicable towards certification as a treatment plant operator. Experience in a purely clerical capacity such as accounting or billing cannot be considered acceptable experience. EXATTONS Except for those persons applying by reciprocity, all applicants for new or higher level certificates must pass a written examination with a minimum score of 70% and pay the appropriate fee (after billing) before a certificate can'be issued. An applicant who fails an examination must wait a minimum of three (3) months before taking any examination. The executive director may require additional training after a failed examination. Examinations are conducted by Commission personnel at various locations across the State on a regular basis and quarterly at many of the District Offices. An examination schedule is available from the Commission's Austin and district offices and at testing sites. RENEWAL OF CER =CAGES Unless revoked or suspended, or replaced by a higher class of certificate, certificates may be renewed by payment of the applicable fee and either by taking and passing a renewal examination or by receiving a specified number of hours of approved additional training. Prior to the expiration date of the certificate, an application for renewal will be mailed to the most recent address provided by the operator. It is the responsibility of the operator that the completed application for renewal and appropriate payment be submitted timely. When renewing by training hours, applications for renewal and appropriate fees must be received by the executive director no .later than 30 days after the date of expiration of the certificate, or the certificate will be renewable only by re- examination. The training hours to be counted toward renewal are those received from the date the certificate was first issued (if it is the first renewal) or from the date of the certificate's latest renewal. To renew'a certificate on the basis of training hours, the operator must earn the following number of credit hours and pay the appropriate fee: Class Hours Needed for Renewal Renewal Fee A 80 hours $160.00 B 50 hours $100.00 C 30 hours $ 60.00 D 20 hours $ 40.00 II 30 hours $ 60.00 I 20 hours $ 40.00 Credit hours applied toward renewal may later be applied toward-obtaining higher classes of certification. 3
