MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />April 11, 1988 <br />The City Council of the City of Paris met in regular session, Monday, <br />April 11, 1988, 7:00 P. M., Council Room, City Hall, Paris, Texas. Mayor <br />Billy Joe Burn -ett called the meeting to order with the fol lowing <br />Councilmen present: Bill Bone, Eric Clifford, Curtis Fendley, Travis <br />Wortham, and Marshall H. Kent, Jr. Also present was City Manager, <br />Michael E. Malone, City Attorney, T. K. Haynes, and City Clerk, Mattie <br />Cunningham. <br />Prayer was offered by Reverend Marcus Davenport, Minister of the Abundant <br />Life Christian Center. <br />Ms. Johnnie Crussell, 907 Fitzhugh Ave., pastor of the St. John's Baptist <br />Church, appeared before the Council requesting street improvement to <br />Center Street in the area of St. John's Baptist Church stating that the <br />street was in a deplorable condition and during wet weather the street <br />was impassible. <br />Veta Robinson, 1536 14th N. E. and Lilly May Moore, 1546 N. E. 14th <br />appeared before the Council also requesting street improvements to their <br />street. <br />Mayor Burnett asked if there were any corrections to the minutes of <br />previous meetings, there being none, the minutes were approved as <br />presented. <br />Mayor Burnett called for receipt of reports from committees, boards and <br />commissions. <br />City Manager Malone advised that a report had been furnished for the <br />Building Hazard Inspection Committee, and there will be a public hearing <br />concerning the property determined by the Building Hazard Inspection <br />Committee to be a fire hazard and /or dilapidated or dangerous structure <br />later in this meeting. Minutes of the Water and Sewer Rate Study <br />Advisory Committee has been furnished, no action required at this time. <br />Mayor Burnett reported that the Visitors and Convention Council Committee <br />had met regarding approving their budget for the fiscal year beginning <br />October 1, 1988. Mayor Burnett told the Council that additional <br />information was needed, and possibly a meeting with Richard Chamberlain, <br />Manager of the Chamber of Commerce, before the proposed budget for the <br />Paris Visitors and Convention Council could be recommended to the Council. <br />Councilman Fendley report that the Upper Stillhouse Creek Sewer Service <br />Committee had also met regarding a request from Ralph Taylor for City of <br />Paris to waive City Ordinance requirement on fire hydrant for a new <br />church building on Loop 286 South. Councilman Fendley advised that the <br />consensus of the Committee was not to grant the variance to the City <br />Ordinance. Mr. Fendley said Mr. Taylor had wanted the City to use a pool <br />on adjoining property for drafting water for fire protection. <br />
