A motion was made by Councilman Clifford, seconded by Councilman Bone <br />to accept the recommendation of the Planning and Zoning Commission to <br />deny the zoning change. The motion carried 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />City Attorney Haynes presented the following petitions for rezoning: <br />Nancy Partridge, Lots 3 & 6, Block 1, Sperry's First Addition from SF -2 <br />District to SF -3 and Specific Use Permit - Mobile Home (39) District; <br />Karen Kay Barr, Lot 4, Block 72 -A from 2F District to NS District; <br />Charles Sterling and Herman Bailey, Lot 2, City Block 306 from <br />Commercial District to Commercial and Specific Use Permit Billboard <br />Sign District. <br />Mayor Burnett referred the petitions to the Planning and Zoning <br />Commission for their study and recommendations and called for a public <br />hearing at the next regular Council meeting. <br />Mayor Burnett called for consideration of and action on authorizing the <br />preparation of and Ordinance amending Section 12 -154 of the Code of <br />Ordinances to revise the Standard Fire Prevention Code. A motion was <br />made by Councilman Wortham, seconded by Councilman Clifford to table <br />action of this item for further information. The motion carried 6 <br />ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Burnett called for consideration of and action on authorizing the <br />preparation of an Ordinance amending Section 29 -2 of the Code of <br />Ordinance. <br />City Attorney Haynes explained that the fire code requires large <br />building to have fire lanes where fire equipment and firemen can <br />approach the building to fight fire and thing of that nature. The fire <br />code makes it unlawful for a person to be in those fire lanes. The old <br />code only applies to fire lanes in the street, this amendment would <br />make it unlawful to park in a fire lane upon private property. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Fendley, seconded by Councilman <br />Clifford authorizing preparation of an Ordinance amending Section 29 -2 <br />of the Code of Ordinance.
