671 YJMJTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL April 9, 1987 The City Council of the City of Paris met in regular session Thursday, April 9, 1987, 5:15 P. M. Council Chambers, City Hall. Mayor Billy J. Burnett called the meeting to order with the following Councilmen present: Bill Bone, Travis Wortham, Mike Folmar, and Jeff Hoog. Also present was City Manager, Michael E. Malone, City Attorney, T. K. Haynes, and City Clerk, Mattie Cunningham. Joe McCollum, Director of Community Development, appeared before the Council and presented the minutes of the Planning and Zoning Commission's meeting held on April 6, 1987, and attached hereto as part of these minutes as Exhibit A. Mayor Burnett declared the public hearing open on the petition of Sammy Short for a Site Plan amendment in a Planned Development - Shopping Center District (PD-a) on Lot 5, City Block 205, located on the Southwest corner of Bonham Street and 19th S. W. Mayor Burnett called for proponents to appear, and Mr. Sammy Short 2135 Cleveland Street, appeared in his behalf stating that the proposed use of the property would be the sale of used cars. Mr. Short stated that there would be adequate parking space, and that lighted signs had been requested previously. Mr. Short also informed the Council that the property would be leased to Don Hall. Mayor Burnett called for opponents to appear, none appeared and the public hearing was declared closed. A motion was made by Councilman Bone, seconded by.Counci] man Hoog for approval of the Site Plan amendment, and called for the preparation of an Ordinance to be presented at the next regular council meeting. The motion carried 5 ayes, 0 nays. Mayor Burnett declared the public hearing open on the petition of Benny Lovell for a change in zoning from a Commercial District (C) to a Commercial District (C) and Specific Use Permit -.Auto Fuel Sales (49) on Lot 5, City Block 307, located on the west side of North Main Street between DeShong Drive and Stone Avenue. Mayor Burnett called for proponents to appear and Mr. Benny Lovell, 4335 Pine Mill Road, stating that he represented the property owner who proposes to develop the tract of land with a convenience store with service islands for fuel sales. Mayor Burnett called for opponents to appear, none appeared and the public hearing was declared closed. After discussion, a motion was made by Councilman Hoog, seconded by Councilman Bone to accept the recce v endation of the Planning and Zoning Cmnission to approve the zoning change, and called for an Ordinance to be prepared and presented at the next regular council meeting. The motion carried 5 ayes, 0 nays.
