671 <br />YJMJTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />April 9, 1987 <br />The City Council of the City of Paris met in regular session <br />Thursday, April 9, 1987, 5:15 P. M. Council Chambers, City Hall. <br />Mayor Billy J. Burnett called the meeting to order with the following <br />Councilmen present: Bill Bone, Travis Wortham, Mike Folmar, and Jeff <br />Hoog. Also present was City Manager, Michael E. Malone, City <br />Attorney, T. K. Haynes, and City Clerk, Mattie Cunningham. <br />Joe McCollum, Director of Community Development, appeared before the <br />Council and presented the minutes of the Planning and Zoning <br />Commission's meeting held on April 6, 1987, and attached hereto as <br />part of these minutes as Exhibit A. <br />Mayor Burnett declared the public hearing open on the petition of <br />Sammy Short for a Site Plan amendment in a Planned Development - <br />Shopping Center District (PD-a) on Lot 5, City Block 205, located on <br />the Southwest corner of Bonham Street and 19th S. W. <br />Mayor Burnett called for proponents to appear, and Mr. Sammy Short <br />2135 Cleveland Street, appeared in his behalf stating that the <br />proposed use of the property would be the sale of used cars. Mr. <br />Short stated that there would be adequate parking space, and that <br />lighted signs had been requested previously. Mr. Short also informed <br />the Council that the property would be leased to Don Hall. <br />Mayor Burnett called for opponents to appear, none appeared and the <br />public hearing was declared closed. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Bone, seconded by.Counci] man Hoog for <br />approval of the Site Plan amendment, and called for the preparation <br />of an Ordinance to be presented at the next regular council meeting. <br />The motion carried 5 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Burnett declared the public hearing open on the petition of <br />Benny Lovell for a change in zoning from a Commercial District (C) to <br />a Commercial District (C) and Specific Use Permit -.Auto Fuel Sales <br />(49) on Lot 5, City Block 307, located on the west side of North Main <br />Street between DeShong Drive and Stone Avenue. <br />Mayor Burnett called for proponents to appear and Mr. Benny Lovell, <br />4335 Pine Mill Road, stating that he represented the property owner <br />who proposes to develop the tract of land with a convenience store <br />with service islands for fuel sales. <br />Mayor Burnett called for opponents to appear, none appeared and the <br />public hearing was declared closed. <br />After discussion, a motion was made by Councilman Hoog, seconded by <br />Councilman Bone to accept the recce v endation of the Planning and <br />Zoning Cmnission to approve the zoning change, and called for an <br />Ordinance to be prepared and presented at the next regular council <br />meeting. The motion carried 5 ayes, 0 nays. <br />
