76
MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
June 8, 1987
The City Council of the City of Paris met in regular session, Monday,
June 8, 1987, 7:00 P. M. Council Chambers of City Hall. Mayor Billy J.
Burnett called the meeting to order with the following Councilmen
present: Curtis Fendley, Travis Wortham, Marshall H. Kent, Jr., Eric
S. Clifford, and Bill Bone. Also present was City Manager, Michael E.
Malone, City Attorney, T. K. Haynes, and Mattie Cunningham, City Clerk.
Prayer was offered by Lorenzo Johns, Minister of Education - Immanuel
Baptist Church, Paris, Texas.
Mayor Burnett asked if there were any corrections to the minutes of
previous meetings, there being none, the minutes were approved as
presented.
Mayor Burnett called for reports from Committee, Boards, and
Commissions.
City Manager Malone advised that the Council had been furnished minutes
of the Airport Advisory Board and the Library Advisory Board, and no
action was required.
Joe McCollum, Director of Community Development, reported that a
proposed Site Plan Ordinance had been referred to the Building
Commission for their recommendation, and the general consensus of the
Committee was that most of these items were contained in existing
Ordinances, and they did not feel that another Ordinance was needed at
this time, but they did recommend that the items listed in the
Ordinance would make a very good policy to be put in written form which
could be furnished to persons who requested building permits for one
and two family dwellings.
City Manager Malone advised that no action was required at this time.
Mayor Burnett called for consideration and action on authorizing the
preparation of an Ordinance revising the Traffic - Control Device Map
providing for stop signs as follows:
17th N. E. and Belmont - Stopping East and west bound traffic on
Belmont at 17th.
10th N. E. and Cherry - Stopping East and West bound traffic on
Cherry Street at 10th.
6th S. W. and Sherman - Stopping .North bound traffic on 6th at
Sherman.
6th S. W. and Washington - Stopping North and South bound traffic
on 6th at Washington.
