r <br />U.S. Highway 82 between the East City Limits of Paris and the West City Limits <br />of Reno. He declared the public hearing open and called for comments. <br />Jesse Wintermute, owner of Wintermute Industries, spoke in favor of the <br />annexation saying that his attorney had been preparing papers to request <br />that the 5 acres be taken in to the Paris City Limits. He praised the Paris <br />Fire Department for saving his building in the past and stated he would like <br />Police protection also. He requested his property to be zoned Light Industrial <br />upon annexation. <br />Wayne Stinson, owner of a decorating and lighting business on U.S. Highway <br />82, voiced objection to annexation saying there was no advantage for him to <br />be in the City Limits. <br />Ronnie Smith, Director of Public Works for the City of Reno, opposed the <br />annexation to Reno's City Limits and read into the record, a letter signed <br />by Edward D. Bullard, Mayor, City of Reno stating their objection. The letter <br />is marked Exhibit A and attached hereto. He went on to say that Reno wants <br />to see a mutually agreed upon service limit boundary established between the <br />two cities. <br />Mack Ross, 3475 Reno Drive, representing Robert Skidmore and Dr. R.L. Lewis <br />had questions about sewer and master plans for the area to be annexed. <br />Jerry Bob Stephens asked questions about taxes on equipment and about require- <br />ments for paving of a private street if it were in the City Limits. <br />Gary Hilliard said he was opposed to the annexation of his property. <br />Mike Smith stated a lot of people felt they were caught in the middle of a <br />dispute between Reno and Paris over the developments of Mark Jones and Mack <br />Ross. <br />T.K. Haynes, City Attorney was present and explained the annexation procedures <br />which we are required to follow. <br />There was considerable discussion between the Commission and the audience and <br />the public hearing was closed. <br />Mr. McCollum recommended that the Commission recommend the annexation of the <br />property and table action o,n the zoning of the area until the May meeting. <br />There was lengthy discussion about the need for a mutual agreement on boundary <br />limits between the two cities. In order to proceed with the matter, Mr. Nutt <br />made a motion to recommend the annexation to the Council and to table action <br />on the zoning of the properties involved until the next meeting. Mr. Hildreth <br />seconded the motion which carried 6 ayes, 1 nay and 1 abstain. Mrs. Smith <br />voted no and Mr. Davidson abstained from voting. <br />The Commission next considered the request of Donald G. Wilson for a variance <br />to Section VII (A) (13) of the Subdivision Regulations relative to alley paving <br />width in Springlake Estates subdivision. <br />y <br />
