Director of Community Development, Joe McCollum appeared before the <br />Council and discussed the tornado damage and re- building on West <br />Campbell Street. <br />City Attorney presented the following petitions for re- zoning: Betty <br />Ruth Bills Houston, Lots 8, 9, 10 and 11, Block 10, Belmont, from SF -3 <br />District to MF -1 District; Vera Mae Rhodes, Lot 18, City Block 311, <br />from Signle- Family Dwelling District to Commercial; Robert J. McDougal, <br />Lots 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7, Block 248 from General Retail District to <br />Commercial District; Alice Hearn, Lot 9, Block 2, Sperry's First <br />Addition from SF -2 District to Neighborhood Service District; Deborah <br />Wright, Lot 6, City Block 227 -E from 2F District to Neighborhood Service <br />District; Wolen - Erwin, Beasley Company, Lot 1, City Block 329 from <br />Commercial District to Light Industrial District. <br />Mayor Graham referred the petitions to the Planning and Zoning Comm- <br />ission for their study and recommendation and called for a public <br />hearing at the next regular Council meeting. <br />Mayor Graham called for a report from the Drainage Committee and <br />Councilman Wilson, Chairman of the Committee made a report concerning <br />drainage on Buttermilk Creek, down streat Buttermilk Creek, the Bridge <br />under 22nd Street N. E. near Ballard, Henerson and 19th Street N. W., <br />6th Street S. W. behind 7th Street S. W. Church, Johnson Park, Henderson <br />between 8th and 9th N. W. Councilman Wilson stated that the Committee <br />recommended using $20,000.00 of Revenue Sharing Fund to purchase a <br />dump truck and hire four additional persons on a temporary basis for <br />cleaning of drainage ditches through out the City. <br />Mr. William Fry appeared before the Council requesting that the drainage <br />ditch near 22nd Street N. E. in Hillcrest Addition be repaired. The <br />matter was referred to the Drainage Committee. <br />Mayor Graham announced that the next order of business would be <br />consideration of an Ordinance calling for a public hearing for <br />annexation of a tract of land on the East side of Highway 271 North. <br />Mr. W. R. Abbott appeared before the Council requesting the Council <br />to consider a larger area for an annexation rather than his property, <br />and requested free sewer connection for his business. After discussion, <br />a motion was made by Councilman McGee, seconded by Councilman Francis, <br />to extend sewer lines cost free to Mr. Abbott. The motion carried 7 <br />ayes o nays. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Wilson, seconded by Councilman McGee <br />to proceed with annexation procedures.
