ORDINANCE NO. 2657 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 1710 OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS AND CHANGING THE BOUNDARIES ESTABLISHED BY THE ZONING MAP OF SAID CITY; ESTABLISHING A MULTI - FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT NO. 1 ON LOT 5, CITY BLOCK 53, ON PROPERTY BELONGING TO GEORGE PRATT, SO AS TO INCLUDE THEREIN TERRITORY FORMERLY DESIGNATED AS. TWO FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT (2F); AND DESIGNATING THE BOUNDARIES OF THE MULTI- FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT NO. 1 (FM -1) SO ESTABLISHED. was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Fisher, seconded by Councilman Williams for adoption. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. Mr. McCollum presented the replat of Lot 3, City Block 39 for approval. A motion was made by Councilman Wilson, seconded by Councilman McGee for approval. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. City Attorney Haynes presented the following petitions for rezoning: Stanley Cope, Lot 13, and 14, City Block 1, Warren Addition and the South 163.5' of City Block 200 from General Retail to General Retail and Specific Use Permit - Auto Fuel Sales (49); Arch Hatch, Lot 2, city Block 188 -D from Commercial District to Agriculture; Barney Bray III, Lot 26, City Block 249 from SF -2 to General Retail District. Mayor Graham referred the petitions to the Planning and Zoning Commission for their recommendations and called for a public hearing at the next regular meeting. Mayor Graham announced they would next consider recommendations from the Traffic Commission. Authorization for the preparation of an Ordinance for stops signs at 9 locations was presented as recommended by the Commission. A motion was made by Councilman Fisher, seconded by Councilman Wilson to authorize an Ordinance for the stop signs for consideration at the next meeting. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. The Council next discussed the installation of a traffic light at the intersection of Lamar Avenue and Loop 286 which had been recommended by the Traffic Commission. Acting City Manager Greene advised the Council that there were no funds budgeted for the traffic lights and suggested it be considered at the next budget workshop. Mrs. Edna Petway, 3150 Lamar Ave. spoke in support of the signal light saying it would help traffic safety on Lamar Ave. Councilman Williams said the shopping center was a big traffic generator and the signal light could reduce accidents at that location. Other intersections were discussed, but no action was taken. The Building Commission recommendation to discontinue the Building Contractor's License and Bond was brought up for discussion. Council- man Wilson and Councilman McWaters asked to be excused from the discussion and left the Council room. Following discussion, Council- man Francis made a motion to authorize preparation of an Ordinance to discontinue the requirements for consideration at the next Council meeting.
