He stated
the Lester Brothers would not pick up work orders and proceed with
the work and recommended that their work be given to V. L. Ferris
Construction Company, the only other bidder on the work. He pointed
out that this would result in an increased cost for the work and
word had not been received from FEMA as to whether they would part-
icipate in the extra cost. Following discussion, Councilman McGee
made a motion to award the bid to Ferris Construction Company with FEMA
approval for participation in the extra cost. Councilman Wilson
seconded the motion which carried 5 ayes, 0 nays.
Acting City Manager Greene advised the Council that the slip lining of
the sewer outfall line had been completed and waste water was flowing
through it. In addition he informed them that the City had not been
selected to participate in the Main Street Program for 1983.
Mayor Graham announced they would receive an update on the Ilfiltration/
Inflow Project. John Buss, Project Director, presented a progress
report on the three groups working on the project as follows: CRS,
in charge of design of the Waste Water Treatment plant, was on
schedule and would have final plans ready for submission by March 1st,
1983. The Chien Group, in charge of lift station design, was also
on schedule and would also meet a March 1st deadline for plans. The
Step II Staff, he said, would not be able to meet the unofficial March
1st deadline for line design plans set by the State.
He cited the problems they have, including the abesence of a professional
Engineer to over see the project.
Councilman Williams entered the Council room and took his seat at
the Council table.
R
