T <br />MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />April 5, 1982 <br />The special meeting of the City Council of the City of Paris was held Monday, <br />April 5, 1982 5:30 P. M. Mayor Burnett called the meeting to order with the <br />following Councilmen present: W. C. Francis, Walter F. Williams, Larry McGee, <br />Travis Wortham, and Ken Kohls. Also present were City Manager R. W. Sokoll, <br />City Attorney, T. K. Haynes, and City Clerk, H. C. Greene. <br />Mayor Burnett announced that the special meeting was called for the purpose of <br />considering an annexation Ordinance for a 8.99 acre tract of land located on <br />the south side of U. S. Highway 82, approximately 1350' west of 46th S. W. <br />ORDINANCE NO. <br />AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE EXTENSION OF CERTAIN BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE <br />CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, AND THE ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN TERRITORY CONSIST- <br />ING OF 8.99 ACRES, MORE OR LESS, WHICH IS LESS THAN TEN PER CENT (10 %) OF THE <br />TERRITORY INCLUDED WITHIN ITS PRESENT CITY LIMITS, WHICH SAID TERRITORY LIES <br />ADJACENT TO AND ADJOINS THE PRESENT BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />PARIS, TEXAS AND PROVIDING ZONING FOR SAID TERRITORY. <br />was presented. Mayor Burnett advised that no action was required on the <br />reading of the Ordinance. <br />City Manager Sokoll presented a request from Pete Witter to set a meter in <br />the gray area by the Lamar County Water Supply Corporation on the County Road <br />east of the Elk Hollow Golf Course Road. A motion was made by Councilman <br />Williams, seconded by Councilman McGee approving the request. The motion <br />carried 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Burnett called for the reading of a Resolution authorizing contract <br />for the Infiltration /Inflow Sewer Project. A motion was made by Councilman <br />Kohls, seconded by Councilman Wortham to table the item. The motion carried <br />6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />City Engineer Rick Conner appeared before the Council stating that the Infiltra- <br />tion /Inflow Step 2 application has been forwarded to the Texas Water Resources <br />Department in Austin, and hopefully would be approved on or before April 6, 1982. <br />Director of Parks and Recreation, Dick Boots serving as Emergency Management <br />Coordinator appeared before the Council and briefed the Council on the status <br />of the clean -up operation caused by the tornado on April 2, 1982. Mr. Boots <br />introduced three staff members from the City of Wichita Falls, Texas who <br />were visiting the City of Paris to give information and assistance that they <br />had gained from the City of Wichita Falls tornado in 1979. <br />Rev. Bob Hanson minister of Central Presbyterian Church appeared before the <br />Council stating that he and the ministers in the City were attempting to <br />organize the Interfaith Disaster Services, Inc. which would be an organization <br />among other things to receive donation and gifts for disaster areas. <br />Mr. Bill Lightfoot appeared before the Council urging the Council to form a <br />Tornado Recovery Citizens Committee. <br />
