MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />July 11, 1977 <br />The Regular Meeting of the City Council was held on July 11, 1977 at 7:00 P. M. Mayor <br />James M. Brunette called the meeting to order with the following Councilmen present-: <br />George Fisher, Jr., Michael Malone, David Philley, Jimmy Don Stone, Walter F. Wil- <br />liams, and Raymond Wunsch. Also present were City Manager K. R. Sweatt, City Attor- <br />ney T. K. Haynes, and City Clerk H. C. Greene. <br />Prayer was offered by Reverend Ray Armstrong, First-Christian Church. <br />Mayor Brunette asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes of <br />previous meetings as furnished the members of the Council. There being none, the <br />minutes were approved, <br />Mayor Brunette announced that the first order of business would be continuation of the <br />public hearing from the last regular Council meeting on the petition of H. L. Ervin <br />for a change in zoning from a Two - Family Dwelling District to-a Commercial District <br />on Lots 5 and 6, City Block 189, iocated'on the northwest corner of 13th N. W. and <br />Bonham Street. <br />Mayor Brunette called for proponents to appear, and Mr. Eric Clifford, Attorney, ap- <br />peared in behalf of Mr. Ervin. Mr. Clifford stated that an agreement had been met <br />with opponents to the zoning change. <br />Mayor Brunette called for opponents to appear, and none appeared. <br />Mayor Brunette declared the public hearing closed, and Ordinance No. 2338: <br />"AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 1710 OF THE CITY OF <br />PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, AND CHANGING THE BOUNDARIES ESTABLISHED BY <br />THE ZONING MAP OF SAID CITY; ESTABLISHING A COMMERCIAL DISTRICT <br />(C) ON LOTS 5 AND 6, CITY BLOCK 189, ON PROPERTY BELONGING TO <br />H. L. ERVIN, SO AS TO INCLUDE THEREIN TERRITORY-FORMERLY DESIG- <br />NATED AS A TWO - FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT (2F); AND DESIGNATING THE <br />BOUNDARIES OF THE COMMERCIAL DISTRICT (C) SO ESTABLISHED. <br />was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Williams and seconded by Councilman <br />Wunsch for the adoption of the ordinance. The motion carried: 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Brunette announced that the next order of business would be consideration of <br />recommendations made by the Planning and Zoning Commission at its regular meeting <br />on July 5, 1977. <br />Mayor Brunette called for a public hearing on the petition of Enlow and Justice for <br />a change in zoning from General Retail to Commercial District on Lot 3, City Block <br />102A. <br />Mayor Brunette called for proponents to appear, and Mr. Brad Hutchison, Attorney, <br />appeared in behalf of the petitioners. Mr. Hutchison advised that a lessee was <br />proposing a Continental Trailways Depot for the site; that no fuel would be dis- <br />pensed on the site; no scheduled maintenance would be performed on the site; and no <br />major changes would be made to the existing structure; that a sign would be placed <br />on top of the building advising the nature of the business; that presently there are <br />nine bus schedules daily; that one bus would remain at the depot overnight. <br />
