Mayor Brunette called for opponents to appear, and none appeared. <br />Mayor Brunette declared the public hearing closed, and Ordinance No. 2339: <br />"AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 1710 OF THE CITY OF <br />PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, AND CHANGING THE BOUNDARIES ESTABLISHED BY <br />THE ZONING MAP OF SAID CITY; ESTABLISHING A COMMERCIAL DISTRICT <br />(C) ON PART OF LOT 3, CITY BLOCK 102A, ON PROPERTY BELONGING <br />TO H. E. ENLOW AND GLENN JUSTICE, SO AS TO INCLUDE THEREIN <br />TERRITORY FORMERLY DESIGNATED AS A GENERAL RETAIL DISTRICT (GR); <br />AND DESIGNATING THE BOUNDARIES OF THE COMMERCIAL DISTRICT (C)' <br />SO ESTABLISHED." <br />was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Ph'illey and seconded,by Councilman <br />Stone for the adoption of the ordinance. The motion carried: 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />,Mayor Brunette declared the public hearing open.on the petition of McClanahan & Holmes <br />for a change in zoning from Multiple- Family Dwelling District to Office District on <br />Lot 1, City Clock 182 -A and Lot 1, Finn Place Addition. <br />Mayor Brunette called for proponents to appear, and Mr. Brad Hutchison appeared in <br />behalf of the petitioners, stating that an accounting firm operation was proposed to <br />be located in the existing house; that no changes were proposed for the existing <br />structure; that only a small professional sign would be located in front-of the house; <br />that the front porch would probably be glassed in. <br />Mr. F. I. McClanahan was available for questioning. <br />Mayor Brunette called for opponents to appear, and Mrs. Melvin Coker appeared, stating <br />that she would like the neighborhood to remain residential. <br />Ordinance No. 2340: <br />"AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 1710 OF THE CITY OF <br />PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, AND CHANGING THE BOUNDARIES ESTABLISHED BY <br />THE ZONING MAP OF SAID CITY; ESTABLISHING TWO (2) OFFICE DIS- <br />TRICTS (0), DESCRIBED IN TWO TRACTS AS FOLLOWS: TRACT 1, ON LOT <br />1, CITY -BLOCK 182A, ON PROPERTY BELONGING TO McCLANAHAN AND <br />HOLMES, AND TRACT 2, ON LOT 1, FINN PLACE ADDITION, UPON PRO- <br />PERTY OF WHICH McCLANAHAN AND HOLMES OWN A CURRENT OPTION, SO <br />AS TO INCLUDE THEREIN TERRITORY FORMERLY DESIGNATED AS MULTIPLE <br />FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICTS NO. 1 (MF -1); AND DESIGNATING THE <br />BOUNDARIES OF THE TWO (2) OFFICE DISTRICTS (0) SO ESTABLISHED." <br />was presented. A petition, which was presented to the Planning and Zoning Commission, <br />was presented to the Council which showed six owners of property within the 200 feet <br />district, had signed the petition out of 31 =.property owners. City Attorney Haynes <br />advised that a simple majority would be required for adoption of the ordinance. A <br />motion was made by Councilman Fisher and seconded by Councilman Williams for adop- <br />tion of the ordinance. The motion carried: 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mr. Robert Pierson, president of the Library Board of the City of Paris, Texas, ap- <br />peared before the Council and recommended that operations of the Paris Public Li- <br />brary should be placed with the City rather than with the board; that 95% of the <br />library financing was funded by the City; that personnel_policy advantages would ac- <br />crue to the employees of the library; that the present board would act as an advisory <br />.board only. <br />
