CV <br />MINUTES GF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />September 21, 1977 <br />A special meeting of the'City Council was held on September 21, 1977 at 5:15 P. M. <br />Mayor.James f4. Brunette called the meeting to order with the following Councilmen pre- <br />sent: George Fisher, Jr., Michael Maldne, Oalter F. tilliams and.ga pond Wunsch. Also <br />present were City Manager K. R, Sweatt City Attorney Ti K: Haynes, and City Clerk H. C. <br />Greene. <br />Mayor - Brunette announced that the purpose of the called Meeting was to discuss claims <br />against the City of Paris'. <br />City Attorney Haynes stated that two claims had been received, one from George Robbins <br />and the 'second from Stan Jenkins. <br />Mayor Brunette declared the Council in executive session. <br />City Attorney_Haynes advised that fir.. George Robbins had made a claim against the City <br />for damages within and near an easement on Mr.. Robbins' property of-a sewer line just <br />south of the Sewer Treatment Plant.. Mr. Haynes stated that Mr. Robbins was claiming <br />for loss of time and for use of approximately 2 acres of land for approximately 6 months. <br />Councilman Stone entered the Council chambers and assumed his chair at the Council tabs- <br />City Attorney Haynes informed the Council of a claim from Mr-. Stan Jenkins and stated <br />that Mr. Jenkins was issued a building permit for the erection of a roller rink.in the- -- <br />1600 block of Bonham Street and was later informed that the property was not suitably <br />zoned for operation of the roller rink. The city attorney advised that the claim was <br />for $600..00 moving expense and $500.00 was business loss. <br />Mayor Brunette declared the executive session closed and the regular session open. <br />City Attorney Haynes advised in open session that Per. George Robbins had made claim <br />against the City for damage to an easement. A motion was made by Councilman Malone and <br />seconded by Councilman Wunsch authorizing the city attorney to negotiate a settlement <br />with Mr. Robbins. The motion carried: 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />City Attorney Haynes advised in open session that Mr. Stan Jenkins had made claim against <br />the City because of an error in the issuance of a building permit. A motion was made <br />by Councilman Williams and seconded by Councilman Fisher authorizing the city attorney <br />to negotiate settlement with 11r. Jenkins..
