9 <br />iiINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUMCIL <br />September 12, 1977 <br />The regular meeting of the City Council was held on September 12, 1977 at 7:00 P. M. <br />Mayor James M. Brunette called the meeting to order with the following Councilmen pre- <br />sent: George Fisher, Jr., Michael Malone, David Philley, Jimmy Don Stone, Walter F. <br />Williams and Raynond Wunsch. Also present were City Manager K. R. Sweatt, City Attorney <br />T. K. Haynes, and City Clerk H. C. Greene. <br />Prayer was offered by Reverend Julian Hendren, Central Presbyterian Church, <br />Mayor Brunette asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes of pre- <br />vious meetins as furnished the Council members. There being none, the minutes were <br />approved. <br />Mayor Brunette announced that the first order of business would be consideration of <br />recommendations made by the Planning and Zoning Commission at its meeting on Septem- <br />ber 6, 1977. <br />Mayor Brunette called a public hearing open on the petition of C. L. Talley for a <br />change in zoning on Lot 2, City Block 207, from a One- Family Dwelling District #2 to <br />a Multi - Family Dwelling District #1. <br />Mayor Brunette called for proponents to appear, and none appeared. <br />Mayor Brunette called for opponents to appear, and Leon Parson, representing his mother, <br />Christy Jordan, 2045 West Kaufman Street and Bruce Parson, 222€1 West Kaufman Street, <br />appeared in opposition to the petition for zoning. <br />Mayor Brunette declared the public hearing closed, and an ordinance amending Zoning <br />Ordinance Edo. 1710 and changing the property in question to Multi- Family, was presented. <br />A motion was made by Councilman 14unsch and seconded by Councilman Malone to disapprove <br />the ordinance and deny the zoning change. The motion carried: 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Brunette declared the public hearing open on the petition of Alene Skidmore for <br />a change in zoning from a General Retail District to a General Retail District and Spe- <br />cific Use Permit - Jay Nursery on Lot 8, City Block 112A, located at 1428 Clarksville <br />Street. <br />Mayor Brunette called for proponents to appear, and tars. Skidmore appeared in her behalf, <br />stating that a Day Care Center was proposed for the property. <br />Mayor Brunette called for opponents to appear, and none appeared. <br />The public hearing was declared closed, and Ordinance No. 2346: <br />"AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 1710 OF THE CITY OF <br />PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, AND CHANGING THE BOUNDARIES ESTABLISHED BY <br />THE ZONING MAP OF SAID CITY; ESTABLISHING A GENERAL RETAIL DISTRICT <br />(GR) AND A SPECIFIC USE PERMIT, DAY MUPSERY (25), LIMITED TO THE <br />USE OF ALENE SKIDMORE, ONLY, ON LOT 8, CITY BLOCK 112A. ON PRO- <br />PERTY BELONGING TO DARIO DOMIMGUEZ, SO AS TO INCLUDE THEREItd <br />TERRITORY FORMERLY DESIGNATED AS " GEMERAL RETAIL DISTRICT (GR); <br />AND DESIGNATING THE BOUNDARIES OF THE GENERAL RETAIL DISTRICT <br />(GR) AND SPECIFIC USE PERMIT, DAY NURSERY (25), LIMITED TO THE <br />USE OF ALENE SKIDMORE ONLY, SO ESTABLISHED." <br />
