9;, <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />February 14, 1977 <br />The Regular Meeting of the City Council-was held on February 14, 1977 at 7:00 P. M. <br />Mayor James I.I. Brunette called the meeting to order with the following Councilmen <br />present: George Fisher, Jr., Ben Hinds, David Philley, Freddie Swaim, Jimmy Don <br />Stone, and Walter F. Williams. Also present were City Manager K. R. Sweatt, City <br />Attorney T. K. Haynes, and City Clerk H. C. Greene.. <br />Prayer was offered by Reverend Milton Guttierrez, Oak Park United Methodist Church. <br />Mayor Brunette asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes of <br />previous meetings as furnished the Council members. There being none, the minutes <br />were approved. <br />Mayor Brunette announced that the first order of-business would be = recommendations <br />of the Planning and Zoning Commission made at-its meeting-on,February 71 1977. <br />Mayor Brunette declared the .public hearing open,-on the petition of Pete and Florence <br />Johnson for a change-in zoning from a Two- Family Dwelling District (2 -F) to a General <br />Retail District on Lot 1, City Block 199, located.at 626 Bonham Street. The Plan - <br />ning and Zoning Commission had recommended unanimously.in favor of.the petition. <br />Mayor Brunette called for proponents to appear, and Per. Pete Johnson appeared in <br />his behalf, stating that he.had no.concrete plans.for use of the-property at this <br />time. <br />Mayor Brunette called.for opponents to appear; and.'none - appeared. <br />Mayor Brunette declared.the public.hearing closed; and Ordinance No. 2312: <br />"AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ZONING ORDINANCE NO: 1710 OF THE CITY <br />OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, AND-CHANGING-THE BOUNDARIES_-ESTABLISHED BY <br />THE ZONING MAP OF SAID CITY; ESTABLISHING A GENERAL RETAIL.DISTRICT <br />(GR) ON LOT 1, CITY BLOCK.1995 ON PROPERTY BELONGING TO -PETE JOHNSON <br />AND WIFE, FLORENCE JOHNSON; SO AS TO INCLUDE.THEREIN-TERRITORY FORMERLY <br />DESIGNATED AS A TWO- FAMILY DVJELLING DISTRICT-'(2F);_AND DESIGNATING <br />THE BOUNDARIES OF- THE'GENERAL RETAIL-DISTRICT'(GR)`SO ESTABLISHED." <br />was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Hinds and seconded by Councilman <br />Williams for the-adoption of the ordinance. The motion carried:.-7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Brunette declared the public.hearing open on the annexation of-land on the <br />south side of US Highway 82 and.the west City limits and land located on the west <br />side of 41st Street SIAJ between'US Highway 82 and Old Bonham Road. <br />Mayor Brunette called for anyone to appear as proponents or opponents, and no one <br />appeared. <br />(Mayor Brunette declared the public hearing closed. A motion was made by Council- <br />man Swaim and seconded by Councilman Fisher to set February 28, 1977 at 7:00 P. M. <br />for consideration of the next step in the annexation procedure.
