9;, MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL February 14, 1977 The Regular Meeting of the City Council-was held on February 14, 1977 at 7:00 P. M. Mayor James I.I. Brunette called the meeting to order with the following Councilmen present: George Fisher, Jr., Ben Hinds, David Philley, Freddie Swaim, Jimmy Don Stone, and Walter F. Williams. Also present were City Manager K. R. Sweatt, City Attorney T. K. Haynes, and City Clerk H. C. Greene.. Prayer was offered by Reverend Milton Guttierrez, Oak Park United Methodist Church. Mayor Brunette asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes of previous meetings as furnished the Council members. There being none, the minutes were approved. Mayor Brunette announced that the first order of-business would be = recommendations of the Planning and Zoning Commission made at-its meeting-on,February 71 1977. Mayor Brunette declared the .public hearing open,-on the petition of Pete and Florence Johnson for a change-in zoning from a Two- Family Dwelling District (2 -F) to a General Retail District on Lot 1, City Block 199, located.at 626 Bonham Street. The Plan - ning and Zoning Commission had recommended unanimously.in favor of.the petition. Mayor Brunette called for proponents to appear, and Per. Pete Johnson appeared in his behalf, stating that he.had no.concrete plans.for use of the-property at this time. Mayor Brunette called.for opponents to appear; and.'none - appeared. Mayor Brunette declared.the public.hearing closed; and Ordinance No. 2312: "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ZONING ORDINANCE NO: 1710 OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, AND-CHANGING-THE BOUNDARIES_-ESTABLISHED BY THE ZONING MAP OF SAID CITY; ESTABLISHING A GENERAL RETAIL.DISTRICT (GR) ON LOT 1, CITY BLOCK.1995 ON PROPERTY BELONGING TO -PETE JOHNSON AND WIFE, FLORENCE JOHNSON; SO AS TO INCLUDE.THEREIN-TERRITORY FORMERLY DESIGNATED AS A TWO- FAMILY DVJELLING DISTRICT-'(2F);_AND DESIGNATING THE BOUNDARIES OF- THE'GENERAL RETAIL-DISTRICT'(GR)`SO ESTABLISHED." was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Hinds and seconded by Councilman Williams for the-adoption of the ordinance. The motion carried:.-7 ayes, 0 nays. Mayor Brunette declared the public.hearing open on the annexation of-land on the south side of US Highway 82 and.the west City limits and land located on the west side of 41st Street SIAJ between'US Highway 82 and Old Bonham Road. Mayor Brunette called for anyone to appear as proponents or opponents, and no one appeared. (Mayor Brunette declared the public hearing closed. A motion was made by Council- man Swaim and seconded by Councilman Fisher to set February 28, 1977 at 7:00 P. M. for consideration of the next step in the annexation procedure.
