Councilman Malone suggested that $700.00 be placed in the budget as a grant to the <br />Optimist Club for the electric bill at the Woodall Little League Park and that <br />$2,000.00 be placed in the budget for the Lamar County Child Development Program and <br />further that travel expenses for nurses be placed in the budget. <br />Councilman Philley suggested that money in Revenue Sharing could be better utilized <br />on capital improvements and suggested that water improvements proposed for the Water <br />and Sewer Fund budget be funded from Revenue Sharing Funds. <br />City Manager Sweatt reminded the Council that in accordance with the federal guide- <br />lines, a public hearing was held on May 17, 1977 at 1:30 P. M. by the chief executive <br />officer of the City on Revenue Sharing Funds. <br />City Manager Sweatt requested an executive session to discuss personnel matters. Mayor <br />Brunette declared an executive session, and City Manager Sweatt discussed a personnel <br />matter. Mayor Brunette declared the executive session closed, and the regular session <br />open. <br />Upon consensus of the Council, Mayor Brunette instructed the city manager to generate <br />figures and estimates for the proposed 1977 -78 budget, taking into consideration sug- <br />gestions made by the Councilmen at the public hearing, such revised figures to be <br />presented at a public hearing called for June 14, 1977. The manager was directed to <br />publish the required legal notices as required by the City Charter for an additional <br />public hearing. <br />There being no further business, the meeting adjourned <br />MAYOR JAMES M.
