98" <br />v <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />Julie 13, 1977 <br />The regular meeting of the City Council was held on June 13, 1977 at 7:00 P. M. <br />Mayor James M. Brunette called the meeting to order with the following Councilmen <br />present: George "Fisher, Jr., Michael Malone, David Philley, Jimmy Don Stone, Walter <br />F. Williams and Raymond Wunsch. Also present were Assistant City Manager H. C. <br />Greene, City Attorney T. K. Haynes, and Acting City_Clerk Joe N. McCollum. <br />Prayer was offered by Jimmy D. Newman, pastor of the College Church of Christ. <br />Mayor Brunette asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes-of <br />the previous meetings as furnished the members of the Council.. There being none, <br />the minutes were approved: <br />Mayor Brunette announced that the next order of business would be consideration of <br />recommendations made by the Planning and Zoning Commission. Mayor-Brunette de- <br />clared the public hearing open on the petition of Lowry Carrington for a change in <br />zoning from a Two- Family.Dwelling District (2F) to an Office District (0) on part. <br />of Lots 2 and 3, City Block 2486, located on the southwest corner of Clarksville <br />Street and 20th S. E. The Planning and Zoning Commission had voted to recommend <br />denial of this request. <br />Mayor Brunette called for proponents to appear and none were present in the audience. <br />Mayor Brunette called for opponents to appear and Mrs. Virginia Jessee called to the <br />Council's attention a petition which had been presented to the Planning:-.and Zoning <br />Commission and signed by neighbors within 200 feet of this tract in opposition to <br />the proposal. <br />Mr. J. D. McLaughlin also spoke stating that the proposal would be an encroachment <br />into the neighborhood and stated that several area residents were in attendance <br />opposing the request and would be willing to speak if necessary. <br />Mayor Brunette declared the public hearing closed and called for the reading of the <br />ordinance. An ordinance was offered for the zoning change. A motion was made by <br />Councilman Wunsch and seconded by Councilman Malone for denial of the ordinance. The <br />motion carried: 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Brunette declared the public hearing open to consider the petition of Mickey <br />York for a change in zoning from an Agricultural District (A) ito a Commercial Dis- <br />trict (C) on.Lot 5, City Block 167, located on the northeast corner of Loop 286 <br />S. E. and 3rd S. E. <br />Mayor Brunette called for proponents to appear, and Mr. York spoke, stating he proposed <br />to operate a feed store on the property. <br />Mayor Brunette called for opponents to appear, and none appeared. <br />Mayor Brunette declared the public hearing closed and called for the reading of the <br />ordinance. <br />Ordinance No. 2328: <br />
