954 <br />Commissioners Court's support to lend financial assistance to facilitate the <br />transfer of the ambulance to the Lamar County Chapter of the American Red <br />Cross. <br />Ms. Bachman advised that she had a meeting with Judge Superville and the <br />Judge told her that he was willing to come to the table with the City and work <br />on designing a resolution so the Red Cross can get the ambulance. Ms. <br />Bachman said Judge Superville had requested that Council Members be <br />appointed by resolution to discuss this issue with him and table the issue and <br />come back in a couple of weeks with an agreement. <br />Ms. McAllister informed the City Council that Lamar County has given the Red <br />Cross a certain amount of money each month so that they may keep their <br />disaster plan up -to -date and offer disaster services. She said that since 1988 <br />Lamar County has given them over $18,000.00. Ms. McAllister also pointed <br />out that since August, there have been 12 major fires and eight of those were <br />within the city limits. The Red Cross has given each one of those families who <br />experienced fires from three to six hundred dollars each and she indicated that <br />approximately 80% of the disasters they deal with are within the city limits. <br />City Manager Malone advised Ms. McAllister that the City of Paris furnished <br />office space and utilities for the Lamar County Chapter of the American Red <br />Cross for many years and that practice only ended when the Red Cross chose to <br />move into the building owned by Paris Junior College. <br />City Attorney Schenk .explained that the resolution that was sent to Lamar <br />County was definitive as-to who puts in money and how much money each party <br />will pay. Mr. Schenk said the City knows the trade -in value of the ambulance. <br />The city staff was looking for an amount the County would contribute toward <br />the transfer whether it is under the ambulance contract or outside the contract, <br />so the staff could advise City Council of the city's share of the cost. City <br />Attorney Schenk said the resolution that he had sent to Judge Superville and that <br />is now before City Council reflected his understanding that the Red Cross would <br />contribute $7,000.00 , the city would pay 60% of the remaining cost, and the <br />
