on patrol notified the EOC of locations where power was still available at <br />schools, churches and buildings large enough for shelters. He said <br />representatives of the Lamar Avenue Church of Christ arrived at the Police <br />Station to offer the use of their church as their power was still on. A briefing <br />and planning session was held at the Police Department among the Red Cross <br />Officials and a shelter was opened at the Lamar Avenue Church of Christ. <br />There were additional plans to open other shelters if needed. <br />City Manager Malone reported that the Police Department worked 57 hours of <br />overtime, EMS worked 232 hours of overtime, and the Fire Department worked <br />246 hours of overtime. There were no report of damage to any city buildings <br />that were occupied by these services or any Fire or EMS equipment. He said we <br />did suffer $1,500.00 in damage from a fallen tree limb to a patrol car, and one <br />CID car was also damaged. <br />City Manager Malone reported that the EMS responded to 265 ambulance <br />request from December 25" through January 3rd. Average calls per day <br />increased by 50% during this time from 19.8 calls per day to 26.5 calls per day. <br />He said the city did place the new ambulance and crew in service on the 23rd of <br />December, so during most of this time the city had four ambulances and many <br />time there were five ambulance responding to calls. The City Manager pointed <br />out that the response time was impacted due to the ice and downed tree limbs. <br />They worked 2,008 man hours during this time frame. -- <br />City Manager Malone said. the Fire Department during the time period- of <br />December 25' through December 31", responded to 142 calls, there were nine <br />structure fires; three vehicle fires, three major accidents; three medical assist, 20 <br />miscellaneous calls; and 104 calls that were due to down ed power lines and tree <br />limbs. The total overtime for the Fire Department is 246 hours. City Manager <br />Malone said he was present on the evening of December 26`h where there was <br />a fire call came in about 10:10 P. M., a structure fire at 120 South Main Street. <br />He pointed out photographs that are available on the board for the City Council <br />to take a look at. The fire units arrived approximately four minutes after the call <br />came in and found heavy smoke and flames coming from the front and rear of <br />
