A motion was made by Councilman Fulbright, seconded by Councilman Boyd <br />to table action on Agenda Item No. 3 public hearing to consider the petition of <br />A. W. Clem for a change in zoning from a One - Family Dwelling District No. 2 <br />(SF -2) to an Office District (0), on Lot 8G, City Block 287, being number 3605 <br />Clarksville Street, and Agenda Item No. 4, consideration of and action on <br />authorizing tl.e preparation of an ordinance amending Zoning Ordinance No. <br />1710 changing the zoning from a One - Family Dwelling District No. 2 (SF -2) to <br />an Office District (0), on Lot 8G, City Block 287, being located at 3605 <br />Clarksville Street. The motion carried 4 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Clifford declared the public hearing open to consider the petition of <br />Larry Goforth for a change in zoning from a One - Family Dwelling District No <br />2 (Sf -2) to a Commercial District (C), on Lot 14, City Block 262, being number <br />1310 20'` Street N. E. <br />Mayor Clifford call for proponents to appear, and Larry Goforth owner of the <br />property was present stating that he was the owner of the property. Mr. Goforth <br />advised the Council that the Planning and Zoning Commission had denied his <br />rezoning petition Monday night. Mr. Goforth said that eight certified letters <br />were mailed out, and no one appeared in opposition to the zoning change, and <br />he would like to know why. Mr. Goforth said he has the property for sale, and <br />it has a large metal building behind it. He advised the Council that he has a <br />person interested in buying the property to be used as an appliance repair shop. <br />Also Mr. Goforth said there was property across the street from his property <br />zoned Commercial, and his rezoning would not be considered spot zoning, and <br />there is 12 acres behind his property, but he did not know how it was zoned. <br />Mayor Clifford called for opponents to appear, and none appeared, and the <br />public hearing was declared closed. <br />Earl Smith, City Engineer, came forward telling the Council that this is not spot <br />zoning, but the Planning and Zoning Commission's concern was the fact that <br />once the property is zoned Commercial there would be many uses that would <br />
