933 <br />2 <br />Mr. Bolton told the Commission that he owned a one acre tract of <br />land north of the proposed zoning change and had a contract to buy _ <br />the property from Hollis Topping. He said he needed it to increase <br />his frontage on the highway for a proposed convenience store. <br />No one else was present to speak on the matter and the public <br />hearing was closed. <br />A motion was made by Mr. Clifford, seconded by Ms. Ausbie to <br />recommend approval of the change. The motion carried 8 ayes, 0 <br />nays. <br />Chairman Hayter declared the public hearing open on the petition of <br />David Hicks for a change in zoning from a One Family Dwelling <br />District No. 2 (SF -2) and a Two Family Dwelling District (2F) to a <br />Commercial District (C) on Lots 1, 2, 8 and 9, Block 2, S.J. Wright <br />Addition located on the west side of 16th S.W. between Bonham <br />Street and Kaufman Street. <br />Mr. Hicks was present and told the Commission he planned to expand <br />his tire and muffle shop to the east and had purchased the lots for <br />this purpose. <br />There were three area residents present but they offered no <br />opposition to the proposed change and the public hearing was <br />closed. <br />Following discussion, a motion was made by Mr. Fendley; seconded by <br />Mr. Clifford, to recommend approval of the petition. The motion <br />carried 8 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Chairman Hayter next called the public hearing on the petition of <br />Richard Powell for a change in zoning from a One Family Dwelling <br />District No. 2 (SF -2) and Specific Use Permit - Plant Nursery to a <br />Combination Planned Development - Commercial District (PD-a.1) and <br />Planned Development - Housing District (PD -b) on Lots 9, 9A, 10, <br />11, 12 and 13, City Block 259 located on the north side of E. <br />Cherry Street at the intersection of Collegiate Drive. <br />No one was present to speak for or against the petition. <br />Chairman Hayter ask for a motion to table until the applicant could <br />appear. <br />Motion was made by Mr. Kent, seconded by Mr. McCarthy to table and <br />continue the hearing on the matter at the next meeting. The motion <br />carried 8 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mr. Fendley ask to be excused from the meeting due to conflict on <br />the next item. Motion was made by Mr. Clifford, seconded by Mr. <br />Kent to excuse Mr. Fendley.
