He
pointed out that there was one lot between his proposed shop and
Crabtree's Restaurant and was across the street from an auto detail
shop.
No one else was present to speak on the matter.
Mr. McCollum advised the Commission that there had been a
misunderstanding at the time the petition was filed. His
understanding was that an appliance repair shop was the intended
use of the property and such a use was permitted in the General
Retail District. The auto repair and air conditioning service
needs to be in a heavier zoning district. He recommended the
matter be tabled and that proper notice be given to adjacent owners
of the required zoning.
A motion was made by Mr. McCarthy to table the matter and to
renotify adjacent owners of the required zoning change needed for
the proposed use. Mr. Kent seconded the motion which carried 6
ayes, 0 nays.
Chairman Hayter declared the public hearing open on the petition of
Jim Bell for a change in zoning from a One Family Dwelling District
No. 2 (SF -2) to a Multi - Family Dwelling District No. 1 (MF -1) on
Lots 8 -B and 8 -C, City Block 257 -A located on the southwest corner
of E. Cherry Street and 25th N.E.
Benny Lovell spoke for Mr. Bell saying the lots in question were
near other Multi - family zoning such as Cherry Street Manor and
the Pshigoda Foundation apartments. He said the property
immediately south was the old Goree Greenhouse and was still
operated as a florist shop.
No one else was present to speak on the matter and the public
hearing was closed.
Mr. McCollum pointed out that the property was occupied by a vacant
house and the City has frequent complaints about a "blind corner"
at the intersection of 25th N.E. and E. Cherry.
Following discussion a motion was made by Mr. McCarthy, seconded by
Mr. Jenkins to recommend approval of the petition. The motion
carried 6 ayes, 0 nays.
There being no further business to consider, the meeting was
adjourned.
o N. McCollum
Secretary, ex- officio
