RESOLUTION NO. 93 -011 <br />WHLREAS,.the. City Council of the City of Paris continues <br />to strive to follow the requirements of the Constitution of <br />the State of Texas, the Laws of the State of Texas and the <br />Charter of the City of Paris, and has never knowingly <br />violated any of the same; and, <br />r-- WHEREAS, The Paris News, a newspaper published within <br />the City of Paris, has accused the City Council of violating <br />j the Texas Open Meetings Act; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City Council, in order to proceed with all <br />due caution to prevent the possibility of a violation of the <br />open meetings law, finds that it would be prudent and in the <br />best interest of the members of the City Council that private <br />consultations with its attorneys be suspended until such time <br />as a reasonable agreed statement of the City Council's rights <br />in this area can be agreed upon by the City Council and The <br />Paris News, and that the City Attorney, T. K. Haynes, <br />negotiate the terms of such agreement and report the same to <br />the City Counc i 1; N0VI THEREFORE, <br />BE <br />IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THL CITY <br />OF PARIS, <br />that no <br />executive sessions be scheduled <br />or held by <br />the City <br />Council <br />until such time as a reasonable <br />agreed statement <br />of <br />the law <br />governing the same can be agreed <br />to by <br />the City <br />Council <br />and The Paris News, or until <br />such time <br />as this <br />resolution <br />is revoked by resolution of <br />the City Council <br />of <br />the City <br />of Paris. <br />Passed and adopted this 1st day of February, 1993. <br />Ge fie Fis er, Mayor <br />ATTEST: <br />Niattie Cunningham, City Cler <br />APPROVED AS TO FORM: <br />z '-_ <br />T.
