_.. ...... _ - - ...... ,.. ,.r..n,.... , MINUTES OF THE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION FEBRUARY 1, 1993 The Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of Paris, Texas met in regular session Monday, February 1, 1993 at 5:30 P.M. in the Council Room, City Hall, Paris, Texas with the following members present: 1. Reeves Hayter, Chairman 5. Joe E. McCarthy 2. Eric Clifford 7. Gerald Powell 3. Curtis Fendley 8. Louis Yates, Jr. 4. Marshall Kent, Jr. Also present was were Earl Smith, City Engineer and Joe McCollum, Director of Community Development. Chairman Hayter called the meeting to order and the minutes of the January 4, 1993 meeting were approved as presented. Chairman Hayter opened the public hearing to consider a change in zoning from a Neighborhood Service District (NS) and General Retail District (GR) to an appropriate zoning classification on Lots 1 and 2, Block 2, Fitzhugh Addition located at 1295 Fitzhugh Avenue belonging to Jesse Hall. Jesse Hall, owner of the property, was present and told the Commission he wanted zoning which would permit an auto parts, auto sales and service center. He said he had not discussed the proposal with any of the adjacent land owners. Karl Louis, Police Chief for the City of Paris, requested that zoning be applied to the property that would not allow any enlargement of the night club on the property. He said complaints on the club had been numerous and it had been the site of several disturbances. He went on to say that the automotive business would not be objectionable if the property could be limited to that use only with no night club activity. Mr. Hall said the property was already zoned for a club and he could expand it if he wanted to. No one else spoke and the public hearing was closed. Following discussion, Mr. Clifford made a motion to recommend that Neighborhood Service District zoning be applied to both of the lots. Mr. Fendley seconded the motion which carried 7 Ayes, 0 Nays.
