After discussion, a motion was made by Councilman Booth for preparation
of an Ordinance amending Section 28.8(f) of the City of Paris Code of
Ordinance prohibiting billboard signs inside the Loop right -of -way of
Loop 286. The motion failed for lack of a second.
Mike Folmar, 433 W. Washington Street, appeared before the Council
speaking as a concern citizen of West Paris, stating that if the
Council votes and take action on doing away with the current request
for housing as currently requested, moving to Section 8 going into
private ownership. Mr. Folmar requested that some type of provisions
be made so that you would give West Paris Citizens some protection from
having all of the sites of the private ownership from being in West
Paris. Mr. Folmar said he sees the land being lower in cost in West
Paris, and that is where private citizens will be purchasing land or
houses, and requested that the Council give this consideration in their
decision.
Billy Trenado appeared before the Council requesting the heading of the
petition submitted by Mr. Salas be read out loud.
Mayor Clifford read the heading of the petition as follows:
1. Seek and act on the process of providing alternative housing other
than Projectization such as Section 8.
2. Upon acting on the above cancel the request for projectization
housing and return the money.
3. Remove the persons in the Paris Housing Authority Board and its
director, for intentionally disrupting the expected due process,
creating undue anxiety by blaming government agencies of
strong -arm tactics, misinforming the citizens and most importantly
NOT facilitating the timely, adequate and appropriate housing for
the economically disadvantaged.
Abdication of this petition will result in action to recall the Council.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
ATTEST:
TTIE CUNNINGHAM, CITY CLERK
