49 <br />Self- sufficiency. After discussion, a motion was made by Councilman <br />Francis, seconded by Councilman Wilson to authorize a $1,000.00 <br />expenditure for office equipment and supplies for the Project Self - <br />Sufficiency in order to get the program into operation. The motion <br />carried 5 ayes, 1 nay, Councilman Burnett voting no. <br />City Manager Doty informed the Council that the City had a calculator <br />that could be used by Ms. Woods. <br />Dr. Joe Hillhouse, Director of the Lamar County Health Unit, appeared <br />before the Council requesting a $2,306.40 increase of funds for hiring <br />a replacement nurse, and in order to have a period of training, who <br />will be replacing the current RN who is retiring and will be having <br />surgery and be on sick leave for approximately six weeks. After this <br />time, the new nurse 'will be covered by a State contract. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Francis, seconded by Councilman <br />Williams approving the request of Dr. Joe Hillhouse for additional fund <br />for hiring a replacement nurse at the Lamar County Health Unit. The <br />motion carried 5 ayes, 1 nay, Councilman Burnett voting no. <br />Mayor Fisher called for the tabulations of bids for a Wall- Mounted <br />Chlorine Detector, and the following bids were presented: <br />Cobler Sales and Service (Euless) <br />$1,129.26 <br />Councilman Wilson moved that the bid received at a public bid opening <br />for one Wall Mounted Chlorine Detector be spread on the record, and <br />that inasmuch as Cobler Sales and Service had submitted the best bid <br />for providing such item that a contract be awarded Cobler Sales and <br />Service for providing one Wall Mounted Chlorine Detector meeting City <br />Specifications. The motion was seconded by Councilman Williams and <br />carried 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Fisher called for the tabulations of bids for one Metal Arc <br />Welder, and the following bids were presented: <br />Big Three Industries, <br />Welders Supply, Inca <br />B 8 J Welding Supply <br />Grand Oxygen Company <br />Inc. (Sherman) <br />(Dallas) <br />Company (Paris) <br />(Paris) <br />$1,948.62 <br />$1,837.40 <br />$1,733.50 <br />$1,637.35 <br />Councilman Wilson moved that the bids received at a Public Bid Opening <br />for one Metal Arc Welder be spread on the record, and that inasmuch as <br />Grand Oxygen Company had submitted the lowest and best bid for <br />providing such item that a contract be awarded Grand Oxygen Company for <br />providing One Metal.Arc Welder meeting City Specifications. The motion <br />was seconded by Councilman Williams and carried 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mike Alexander, Code Inspector, appeared before the Council and gave a <br />report on the Building Hazard Inspection Committee. <br />
