After discussion, a motion was made by Councilman Francis, seconded by Councilman Wilson to authorize a $1,000.00 expenditure for office equipment and supplies for the Project Self - Sufficiency in order to get the program into operation. The motion carried 5 ayes, 1 nay, Councilman Burnett voting no. City Manager Doty informed the Council that the City had a calculator that could be used by Ms. Woods. Dr. Joe Hillhouse, Director of the Lamar County Health Unit, appeared before the Council requesting a $2,306.40 increase of funds for hiring a replacement nurse, and in order to have a period of training, who will be replacing the current RN who is retiring and will be having surgery and be on sick leave for approximately six weeks. After this time, the new nurse 'will be covered by a State contract. A motion was made by Councilman Francis, seconded by Councilman Williams approving the request of Dr. Joe Hillhouse for additional fund for hiring a replacement nurse at the Lamar County Health Unit. Mayor Fisher called for the tabulations of bids for a Wall- Mounted Chlorine Detector, and the following bids were presented: Cobler Sales and Service (Euless) $1,129.26 Councilman Wilson moved that the bid received at a public bid opening for one Wall Mounted Chlorine Detector be spread on the record, and that inasmuch as Cobler Sales and Service had submitted the best bid for providing such item that a contract be awarded Cobler Sales and Service for providing one Wall Mounted Chlorine Detector meeting City Specifications. The motion was seconded by Councilman Williams and carried 6 ayes, 0 nays. Mayor Fisher called for the tabulations of bids for one Metal Arc Welder, and the following bids were presented: Big Three Industries, Welders Supply, Inca B 8 J Welding Supply Grand Oxygen Company Inc. (Sherman) (Dallas) Company (Paris) (Paris) $1,948.62 $1,837.40 $1,733.50 $1,637.35 Councilman Wilson moved that the bids received at a Public Bid Opening for one Metal Arc Welder be spread on the record, and that inasmuch as Grand Oxygen Company had submitted the lowest and best bid for providing such item that a contract be awarded Grand Oxygen Company for providing One Metal.Arc Welder meeting City Specifications. The motion was seconded by Councilman Williams and carried 6 ayes, 0 nays. Mike Alexander, Code Inspector, appeared before the Council and gave a report on the Building Hazard Inspection Committee.
