f 4 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />January 14, 1985 <br />`The City Council-of the City of Paris met in regular session, Monday, January <br />14, 1985 7:00 P. M. Mayor Graham called the meeting to order with the following <br />Councilmen present: Billy J. Burnett, Jeff Hoog „ Nathan Bell, and Walter F. <br />Williams. Also present were City Manager, David H. Doty, City Attorney T. K. <br />Haynes, and City Clerk, H. C. Greene. <br />Prayer was offered by Lt.Randy Steadham, Salvation Army. <br />After prayer by Lt. Steadham, a motion was made by Councilman Bell, seconded <br />by Councilman Burnett to express gratitude of the City Council for Lt. Steadham's <br />services in the City of Paris and expressed their regret of him leaving the City. <br />The motion carried 5 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Graham asked if there were any corrections to the minutes of previous <br />meetings and there being none, the minutes were approved as presented. <br />Mr. Virgil McFadden, 801 W. Washington, had been placed on the agenda to discuss <br />drainage in the 600 Block of Polk Street. Mr. McFadden did not show for the <br />Council meeting. <br />Mr. Robert Gilmore, 942 East Cherry Street, an ex- employee of the City of Paris <br />appeared before the Council in an appeal as provided in Chapter 11, Section 3e <br />of the City of Paris Personnel Policies concerning the decision of the City <br />Manager up holding disciplinary action he received as a City employee. Mr. <br />Gilmore stated that he wished to be represented by Mr. John W. Washington. <br />Councilman Fisher entered the Council chambers and assumed his seat at the <br />Council table. <br />Mr. Washington discussed the events leading to Mr. Gilmore's accused deeds <br />and requested that Mr. Gilmore be reinstated to his job. A motion was made <br />by Councilman Williams, seconded by Councilman Bell to up hold the action of <br />the City Manager and his decision on the appeal of Mr. Gilmore. The motion <br />carried 5 ayes, 1 nay, Councilman Fisher voting nay. <br />Mayor Graham announced that the next order of business would be consideration <br />of previously authorized Ordinances. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 85 -001 <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ZONING ORDINANCE NO.. 1710 OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS <br />AND CHANGING THE BOUNDARIES ESTABLISHED BY THE ZONING MAP OF SAID CITY; ESTABLISH- <br />ING A GENERAL RETAIL DISTRICT (GR) ON LOTS 13, 15, AND 17, BLOCK 2, LAMAR TERRACE <br />ADDITION, ON PROPERTY BELONGING TO B. RAY STEELMAN, SO AS TO INCLUDE THEREIN <br />TERRITORY FORMERLY DESIGNATED AS A ONE FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT NO. 2 (SF -2); <br />AND DESIGNATING THE BOUNDARIES OF THE GENERAL RETAIL DISTRICT (GR) SO ESTABLISHED. <br />was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Burnett, seconded by Councilman <br />Bell for adoption of the Ordinance.
