26A <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2582 <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 1710 OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, <br />TEXAS AND CHANGING THE BOUNDARIES ESTABLISHED BY THE ZONING MAP OF SAID CITY; <br />ESTABLISHING A COMMERCIAL DISTRICT (C) ON LOTS 9 AND 9A, CITY BLOCK 260, ON <br />PROPERTY BELONGING TO E. J. JORDAN AND WIFE, RUBY JORDAN, SO AS TO INCLUDE <br />THEREIN TERRITORY FORMERLY DESIGNATED AS A NEIGHBORHOOD SERVICE DISTRICT (NS); <br />AND DESIGNATING THE BOUNDARIES OF THE COMMERCIAL DISTRICT (C) SO ESTABLISHED. <br />was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Graham, seconded by Councilman <br />Wortham for adoption of the Ordinance. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. j <br />Mayor Burnett invited a motion to take from the table the re -plat of Block 15, <br />Mayer Addition. A motion was made by Councilman Williams, seconded by Council- <br />man Graham to take from the table the re -plat of Block 15, Mayer Addition. The <br />motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Discussion was had as to the dedication of 5 feet right -of -way from Ray Butler's <br />property on 34th Street S. W. <br />Director of Community Development, Joe McCollum appeared before the Council and <br />stated that he felt that the City needed the additional 5 foot right -of -way <br />for future development of a street, and that a 28 foot street would require <br />50 feet of right -of -way including an additional 5 feet from Mr. Butler's <br />property. Hayden Stripland, owner of the property in question, other than Mr. <br />Butler's in the plat, appeared before the Council speaking in favor of the plat, <br />but not recommending 5 feet being taken from Mr. Butler's property. <br />Councilman Kohls made a motion recommending that the plat be tabled and returned <br />to the City staff for a definite recommendation, the motion was seconded by <br />Councilman McGee. Mayor Burnett called for a vote which showed 2 ayes, 5 nays, <br />and the motion failed. After further discussion, a motion was made by Council- <br />man Williams, seconded by Councilman Graham to approve the plat waving the 5 <br />feet right -of -way on Ray Butler's property on 34th Street S. W. The motion carried <br />5 ayes, 2 nays, Councilman Francis, Councilman Kohls voting nay. <br />City Attorney Haynes presented the following petitions for re- zoning. Glenn <br />Watson, Lot 6, 7, & 8, Block 5, S. J. Wright Addition, from One Family Dwelling <br />District to Two Family Dwelling District: Corrine Wade, Lot 10, Block 52, from <br />a Two Family Dwelling District to a Neighborhood Service District. <br />Mayor Burnett referred the petitons to the Planning and Zoning Commission for <br />their study and recommendations and called for a public hearing at the next <br />regular Council meeting. <br />Mayor Burnett announced that the next order of business would be consideration <br />of recommendations made by the Traffic Commission. <br />City Manager Sokoll presented a petition from the citizens along the north side <br />of Tudor Street between Fitzhugh Ave., and 20th Street N. E. to eliminate the No <br />Parking Zone. The Traffic Commission had recommended that the No Parking Zone be <br />eliminated with the exception of the 500 Block of,E°.Tudor Street. After discussion, <br />a motion was made by Councilman Williams, seconded by Councilman Wortham authoriz- <br />ing the preparation of an Ordinance eliminating the No Parking Zone on E. Tudor <br />Street as petitioned with the exception of the 500 Block of E. Tudor Street. The <br />motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />
