r <br />2r4:i <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY OF PARIS <br />October 12, 1981 <br />The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Paris was held Monday, <br />October 12, 1981, 7:00 P. M. Mayor Burnett called the meeting to order with <br />the following Councilmen present: W. C. Francis, Walter F. Williams, Travis <br />Wortham, and Larry McGee. Also present were City Manager, R. W. Sokoll, City <br />Attorney, T. K. Haynes, and City Clerk, H. C. Greene. <br />Prayer was offered by the Rev. Larry Martin. <br />Mayor Burnett asked if there were any corrections to the minutes of previous meetings, <br />furnished to the Council members. There being no corrections, the minutes were <br />approved. <br />Mayor Burnett announced that the first item of business would be consideration <br />of recommendations made by the Planning and Zoning Commission. <br />Mayor =Burnett declared the public hearing open on the petition of Kenneth. McGuire <br />for a change in zoning from a General Retail District to a Commercial District <br />on Lot 11, City Block 222 -A located at 2407 Lamar Ave. <br />Mayor Burnett called for proponents to appear and none appeared. <br />Mayor Burnett called for opponents to appear and Mr. B. Ray Steelman and Mr. <br />Rufus Edwards appeared in opposition to the zoning change. <br />Mayor Burnett declared the public hearing closed and <br />ORDINANCE NO. <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ZONING ORDINANCE NO 1710 OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, <br />AND CHANGING THE BOUNDARIES ESTABLISHED BY THE ZONING MAP OF SAID CITY; ESTABLISH- <br />ING A COMMERCIAL DISTRICT (C) ON LOT 11, CITY BLOCK 222 -A, ON PROPERTY BELONGING <br />TO DAVID GLASS, SO AS TO INCLUDE THEREIN TERRITORY FORMERLY DESIGNATED AS A <br />GENERAL RETAIL DISTRICT (GR); AND DESIGNATING THE BOUNDARIES OF THE COMMERCIAL <br />DISTRICT (C) SO ESTABLISHED. <br />was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Williams, seconded by Councilman <br />Francis to deny the zoning change and the Ordinance. The motion carried 5 ayes, <br />0 nays. <br />Mayor Burnett declared the public hearing open on the petition of Jesse Hall <br />for a change in zoning from a Neighborhood Service District to a General Retail <br />District on Lot 1 -A, Block 2, Fitzhugh Addition, located at 1295 Fitzhugh Ave. <br />Mayor Burnett called for proponents to appear and Mr. Jesse Hall appeared in his <br />behalf, stating that he needed the General Retail Zoning in order to operate a <br />Supper Club serving beer and wine. Discussion was had on the off street parking <br />and Mr. Hall stated that he was in the process of securing the adjoining vacant <br />lot for additional parking. <br />After discussion, a motion was made by Councilman Williams, seconded by Councilman <br />McGee to table the petition until off street parking needs were met. The motion <br />carried 5 ayes, 0 nays. <br />
