The motion carried 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />City Attorney Haynes presented the following petitions for amendments to the Zoning <br />Ordinance. John L. Hutchings, Lot 15, City Block 296, petitioning a change from a <br />One Family Dwelling District No. 2 to a Multi- Family Dwelling District No. l; Louis <br />Prihoda petitioning a change from a Neighborhood Service District to a Commercial <br />District on Lot 17, City Block 201. <br />Mayor Malone referred the petitions to the Planning and Zoning Commission for <br />their study and recommendations and called for a public hearing at the next <br />regular Council meeting. <br />Mayor Malone announced that the next order of business would be consideration <br />of recommendations made by the Traffic Commission, and advised that the Traffic <br />Commission had recommended no parking zone on the east side of 31st Street N. E. <br />between E. Lamar and E. Houston Street; a no parking zone on the west side of <br />3rd S. E. from 93 feet south of the curb line of Clarksville St., to the North <br />curb line of E. Kaufman Street, and a no parking zone on the West side of 24th <br />S. E. from 365 feet South of the south curb line of E. Polk Street., south to <br />the north curb line of Jefferson Road. After discussion, a motion was made by <br />Councilman Williams, seconded by Councilman Wortham authorizing preparation <br />of an Ordinance concerning the no parking signs. The motion carried 6 ayes, <br />0 nays. <br />Mayor Malone called for the third reading of an Ordinance revising the Lone <br />Star Gas Company Franchise Ordinance. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2564 <br />AN ORDINANCE GRANTING TO LONE STAR GAS COMPANY A CORPORATION, ITS SUCCESSORS <br />AND ASSIGNS, A FRANCHISE TO FURNISH AND SUPPLY GAS TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC IN <br />THE CITY OF PARIS, LAMAR COUNTY, TEXAS, AND THE ENVIRONS THEREOF; PROVIDING <br />FOR THE PAYMENT OF A FEE OR CHARGE FOR THE USE OF THE STREETS, ALLEYS AND <br />PUBLIC WAYS, AND PROVIDING THAT IT SHALL BE IN LIEU OF OTHER FEES AND CHARGES, <br />EXCEPTING AD VALOREM TAXES. <br />was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Burnett, seconded by Councilman <br />Williams for adoption of the Ordinance. The motion carried 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Malone ask for a motion to table Item 5 and 6 and go on to item 7. A <br />motion was made by Councilman Williams, seconded by Councilman Burnett. The <br />motion carried 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Malone declared the public hearing open regarding Texas Power & Light <br />Company's request for a rate increase. <br />Travis King, District Manager, Texas Power & Light Company, stated the reason <br />for requesting the increase and advised the Council what Texas Power & Light <br />Company was doing to hold down prices. At the request of Councilman Wortham, <br />Mr. King explained the reason why bills fluctuate due to fuel cost. Mayor <br />Malone ask if anyone else desired to speak on the matter, and no one appeared <br />and the public hearing was declared closed. <br />Resolution No. 2089 authorizing the City of Paris to join with other cities <br />pursuing this rate matter with the Public Utility Commission was presented. ' <br />A motion was made by Councilman Williams, seconded by Councilman Kohls for <br />adoption of the Resolution. The motion carried 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />
