20 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2089 <br />WHEREAS, Texas Power & Light Company did, on March 6, <br />1981, file a schedule of rates for electric service within the City of <br />Paris and thereafter on the 9th day of March, 1981 the City Council <br />in Resolution No. 2086 suspended such schedule of rates for a <br />period of 120 days from April 11, 1981 and provided for a hearing <br />before the City Council on the 13th day of April, 1981; and, <br />WHEREAS, a public hearing was had; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris deems it to <br />be in the best interest of the citizens of Paris that the City of Paris <br />evaluate such rate request for the purpose of making local rate de- <br />terminations and to pursue this rate matter before the Public <br />Utility Commission of Texas, in Docket No. 3780, jointly with other <br />cities so situated; and, <br />WHEREAS, a copy of this resolution has been provided Texas <br />Power & Light Company prior to its consideration by the City Council <br />of the City of Paris; NOW, THEREFORE, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />PARIS, That the City of Paris join with other cities served by <br />Texas Power & Light Company to conduct a joint study of the <br />Company's pending rate increase and that the consultants and <br />attorneys engaged by the steering committee of such cities be <br />authorized to act on behalf of the City of Paris to obtain all infor- <br />mation necessary and pertinent to Texas Power & Light Company's <br />rate request and to conduct investigations, present evidence, ad- <br />vise and represent the City of Paris with respect to Docket 3780 <br />pending before the Public Utility Commission of Texas and the <br />case pending before the City of Paris at this time. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Texas Power & Light <br />Company rate schedule, approved by the Public Utility Commission <br />of Texas in Docket No. 3780, to be placed in operation throughout <br />the Texas Power & Light Company unincorporated service area, is <br />accepted as binding upon the City of Paris upon the placing of the <br />same in effect throughout the Texas Power & Light Company <br />service area unless the same is appealed by the cities served by <br />Texas Power & Light Company which have joined together to <br />pursue this rate matter before the Public Utility Commission of <br />Texas. <br />Passed and adopted this 13th day of April, 1981. <br />Michael V.
