MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY OF PARIS <br />May 11, 1981 <br />The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Paris was held Monday, <br />May 11, 1981, 7:00 P. M. Mayor Pro Tem Burnett called the meeting to order <br />with the following Councilmen present: W. C. Francis, Walter F. Williams, <br />Travis Wortham, Kenneth E. Kohls, Joe Graham, and Larry McGee. Also present <br />were City Manager, R. W. Sokoll, City Attorney, T. K. Haynes, and City Clerk, <br />H. C. Greene. <br />Prayer was offered by Rev. Ray Armstrong. <br />Mayor Burnett announced that the first order of business would be the election <br />of a Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem and announced that nominations were open for Mayor. <br />Councilman Williams nominated Councilman Burnett for Mayor and was seconded <br />by Councilman Wortham. Councilman Kohls nominated Councilman Francis for Mayor, <br />and was seconded by Councilman McGee. A vote was taken which showed four (4) <br />votes for Councilman Burnett, and three (3) votes for Councilman Francis, <br />and Councilman Burnett was declared elected Mayor. <br />Mayor Burnett announced that nomination were open for Mayor Pro Tem. Councilman <br />Wortham nominated Councilman Williams, seconded by Councilman Graham. Council- <br />man Francis nominated Councilman McGee. The vote was taken which showed five <br />(5) votes for Councilman Williams and one (1) vote for Councilman McGee, and <br />Councilman Williams was elected Mayor Pro Tem. <br />Mayor Burnett ask if there were any corrections to the minutes of previous <br />meeting furnished to the Council members. There being no corrections, the <br />minutes were approved. <br />Mayor Brunett announced that the next order of business would be consideration <br />of recommendations made by the Planning and Zoning Commission. <br />Mayor Burnett declared the public hearing open on the petition of John L, <br />Hutchin s for a change in zoning from a One Family Dwelling District No. 2 <br />to a Mu ?ti- Family Dwelling District No. 1 on Lot 15, City Block 296 located <br />at 3315 Lamar Avenue. <br />Mayor Burnett called for proponents to appear, and Mr. John Hutchings appeared <br />in his behalf stating that an apartment complex was being constructed on an <br />adjacent lot. <br />Mayor Burnett called for opponents to appear and none appeared and the public <br />hearing was declared closed. <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 1710 OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, <br />TEXAS, AND CHANGING THE BOUNDARIES ESTABLISHED BY THE ZONING MAP OF SAID CITY; <br />ESTABLISHING A MULTIPLE FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT NO. 1 (MF -1) ON LOT 15, CITY <br />BLOCK 296, ON PROPERTY BELONGING TO JOHN L. HUTCHINGS, SO AS TO INCLUDE THEREIN <br />TERRITORY FORMERLY DESIGNATED AS A ONE- FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT NO. 2 (SF -2); <br />AND DESIGNATING THE BOUNDARIES OF THE MULTIPLE FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT NO. 1 <br />(MF-1) SO ESTABLISHED. <br />
