C) 'J J <br />x <br />MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />May 13, 1980 <br />The special meeting of the City Council of the City of Paris was held Wednesday, <br />-- May 13, 1980 at 7:00 P. M. City Council Room. Mayor Malone called the meeting <br />to order with the following Councilmen present: Travis Wortham, Addie J. Bufford, <br />Billy J. Burnett, Kenneth E. Kohls, W. C. Francis, and Ronald Kyle. Also present <br />were City Manager, R. W. Sokoll, City Attorney, T. K. Haynes, and City Clerk, H. <br />C. Greene. <br />City Manager Sokoll presented a request for out -of -town water service from Velva <br />Aubrey, at 2650 N. W. 19th. After discussion, a motion was made by Councilman <br />Burnett, seconded by Councilman Wortham approving out -of -city water service to <br />2650 19th N. W. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mr. L. G. Hackler appeared before the Council regarding no parking zone on West <br />side of 6th Street S. W. across from Wise Field. Mr. Hackler stated that the <br />noise and traffic from the operation of Wise Field disturbed tenants in houses <br />he owns and stated that he would like a curfew palced at 10:00 P. M. at Wise <br />Field. <br />Director of Parks and Recreation, Dick Boots appeared before the Council and <br />advised of the schedule at Wise Field and stated that games were usually over <br />by 10:30 P. M. <br />City Attorney Haynes recommended that an Ordinance be prepared prohibiting parking <br />on the West side of 6th S. W. from Sherman to Washington Street, and that Police <br />be requested to patrol closely after games completion. Asst. Police Chief Barnett <br />r appeared before the Council stating that he had canvassed the residents on 6th S. W. <br />and was his opinion that no parking will assist in relieveing the problem as stated. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2502 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, PROVIDING THAT THE CODE OF <br />ORDINANCE, CITY OF PARIS, BE AMENDED BY REVISING THE TRAFFIC NO PARKING MAP ADOPTED <br />IN PARAGRAPH (c) OF SECTION 29 -112 OF SAID CODE; ESTABLISHING A NO PARKING AREA; <br />PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY NOT TO EXCEED $200.00; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS <br />OF ORDINANCES IN COMFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF JUNE, <br />1, 1980. <br />was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Burnett, seconded by Councilman <br />Bufford for adoption of the Ordinance. The motion carried 6 ayes 1 nay, Council- <br />man Wortham voting nay. <br />Mr. Richard Singleton, representing Motorola appeared before the Council and <br />discussed communication system for the Emergency Medical Service. <br />There being no further business, the meeting adjourned. <br />MICHAEL E.
