r <br />VDU <br />c <br />MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />May 29, 1980 <br />The special meeting of the Council of the City of Paris was held Thursday, May 29, <br />1980 at 7:00 P. M. City Council Room. Mayor Malone called the meeting to order <br />with the following Councilmen present: Travis Wortham, Addie J. Bufford, Billy <br />J. Burnett, Kenneth E. Kohls, and Ronald Kyle. Also present were City Manager, <br />R. W. Sokoli, City Attorney, T.K. Haynes, and City Clerk, H. C. Greene. <br />City Manager Sokoll presented the official budget of the City of Paris for the <br />fiscal year 1980 -81 and requested the public hearing be called, as called for <br />by the City Charter. <br />After discussion, Mayor Malone called for a public hearing on the proposed budget <br />for June 11, 1980, 7:00 P. M. <br />Mayor Malone called for the reading of an Ordinance appointing a new member to the <br />Board of Equalization. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2503 <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 2499 OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, BY <br />AMENDING SECTION 1 OF SAID ORDINANCE, APPOINTING THREE MEMBERS TO THE EQUALIZA- <br />TION BOARD OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, TO SERVE FOR THE CURRENT TAXABLE <br />YEAR; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND <br />PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Kyle, seconded by Councilman Kohls <br />for adoption of the Ordinance. The motion carried 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Malone advised that the Council would go into executive session to discuss <br />claims against the City. <br />The regular session was declared closed, and the executive session open. <br />City Attorney Haynes discussed a claim against the City concerning the construction <br />of 7th Street S. W. Bonham to Graham Street. <br />Mayor Malone declared the executive session closed and the regular session open. <br />There being no further business, the meeting adjourned. <br />MICHAEL E.
