3 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />August 11, 1980 <br />The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Paris was held Monda , <br />August 11, 1980 at 7:00 P. M. Mayor Malone called the meeting to order witlYi the <br />following Councilmen present: Travis Wortham, Billy J. Burnett, Kenneth E. Kohls, <br />W. C. Francis, and Ronald Kyle. Also present were City Manager, R. W. Sokoll, <br />City Attorney, T. K. Haynes, and City Clerk, H. C. Greene. <br />Prayer was offered by the Rev. Eddie Johnson. <br />Mayor Malone asked if there were any corrections to the minutes of previous <br />meeting furnished to the Council members. There being none, the minutes were <br />approved. <br />Mayor Malone announced that he had received the resignation of Councilman Addie <br />Bufford, and stated the reason for the resignation was the employment of Council- <br />man Bufford for an indefinite period outside the continental limits of the <br />United States. Mayor Malone called for the nominations for the appointment of <br />a replacement for Councilman Bufford. Councilman Wortham nominated Walter F. <br />Williams, and was seconded by Councilman Burnett. There being no other nomina- <br />tions, Mayor Malone called for a vote which showed 6 ayes, 0 nays, and Walter <br />F. Williams was appointed Councilman. <br />City Judge, Cedric Townsend administered the oath of office to Councilman Williams, <br />and he assumed his seat at the council table. <br />Mayor Malone announced the next order of business would be consideration of <br />recommendations made by the Planning and Zoning Commission. <br />r-- Mayor Malone declared the public hearing open on the petition of R. B. Staples <br />and Joel D. Casey for a change in zoning from a One Family Dwelling District No. 2 <br />to a Two Family Dwelling District on part of Lot 1, Block B., Jefferson Heights <br />Addition, located on the west side of 41st S. E., South of Loop 286 S. E.. <br />Mayor Malone called for proponents to appear and Mr. Bob Staples appeared in <br />behalf of the petitioners. <br />Mayor Malone called for opponents to appear and none appeared, and the public <br />hearing was declared closed. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2519 <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 1710 OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, <br />TEXAS, AND CHANGING THE BOUNDARIES ESTABLISHED BY THE ZONING MAP OF SAID CITY; <br />ESTABLISHING A TWO- FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT (2F) ON PART OF LOT 1, BLOCK B, <br />JEFFERSOW HEIGHTS, ON PROPERTY BELONGING TO R. B. STAPLES, JR. AND JOEL D. CASEY, <br />SO AS TO INCLUDE THEREIN TERRITORY FORMERLY DESIGNATED AS A ONE - FAMILY DWELLING <br />DISTRICT N0. Z (SF -2); AND DESIGNATING THE BOUNDARIES OF THE TWO- FAMILY DWELLING <br />DISTRICT (2F) SO ESTABLISHED <br />was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Burnett, seconded by Councilman <br />Williams for adoption of the Ordinance. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />1 <br />
