36 <br />i <br />Mayor Malone declared the public hearing open on the petition of the Ramseur <br />Baptist Church for a change in zoning from a One Family Dwelling District No. 2 <br />to a General Retail District on part of Lots 1 -B and 5, City Block 287, located <br />on the south side of Lamar Avenue approximately 600 feet west of Loop 286. <br />Mayor Malone called for proponents to appear and Rev. Eddie Johnson appeared <br />in behalf of the petitioners stating that the Church was leasing the property <br />to the Mirabeau Shopping Center. <br />Mayor Malone called for opponents to appear and none appeared, and the public <br />hearing was declared closed. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2520 <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 1710 OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, <br />TEXAS, AND CHANGING THE BOUNDARIES ESTABLISHED BY THE ZONING MAP OF SAID CITY: <br />ESTABLISHING A GENERAL RETAIL DISTRICT (GR) ON PART OF LOTS 1B AND 5, CITY BLOCK <br />287, ON PROPERTY BELONGING TO RAMSEUR BAPTIST CHURCH, SO AS TO INCLUDE THEREIN <br />TERRITORY FORMERLY DESIGNATED AS A ONE- FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT NO. 2 (SF -2); <br />AND DESIGNATING THE BOUNDARIES OF THE GENERAL RETAIL DISTRICT (GR) SO ESTABLISHED. <br />was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Burnett, seconded by Councilman <br />Williams for adoption of the Ordinance. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Malone called for public hearing open on the petition of Joe C. and Kay <br />Smith for a change in zoning from a Planned Development District - Housing to <br />a Neighborhood Service District on Lot 1 -A, City Block 328, located on the <br />southwest corner of Bonham Street and 34th Street S. W. <br />Mayor Malone called for proponents to appear and none appeared. <br />Mayor Malone called for opponents to appear and Mr. Steve Gray representing <br />the West Wood Baptist Church appeared before the Council stating that members <br />of the Church opposed the zoning, also appearing in opposition to the zoning <br />was Mr. Hayden Stripland, and Mrs. Betty Hindman. <br />Mayor Malone declared the public hearing closed. <br />ORDINANCE NO, <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 1710 OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, <br />TEXAS, AND CHANGING THE BOUNDARIES ESTABLISHED BY THE ZONING MAP OF SAID CITY; <br />ESTABLISHING A NEIGHBORHOOD SERVICE DISTRICT (NS) ON LOT IA, CITY BLOCK 328, <br />UPON PROPERTY OF WHICH JOE C. SMITH AND KAY SMITH OWN A CURRENT OPTION, SO <br />AS TO INCLUDE THEREIN TERRITORY FORMERLY DESIGNATED AS A PLANNED DEVELOPMENT <br />DISTRICT, HOUSING DEVELOPMENT (PD -b); AND DESIGNATING THE BOUNDARIES OF THE <br />NEIGHBORHOOD SERVICE DISTRICT (NS) SO ESTABLISHED <br />was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Burnett, seconded by Councilman <br />Williams for the defeat of the Ordinance and to deny the zoning. The motion <br />carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />City Attorney Haynes presented a petition for re- zoning from Calvin Gibson on <br />Lots 12, and 13, City Block 55, from a Two Family Dwelling District to a Commercial <br />District. Mayor Malone referred the petition to the Planning and Zoning Commission <br />for their study and recommendations and called for a public hearing at the next <br />regular meeting. <br />
