An✓ <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2047 <br />WHEREAS, bank stabilization and navigation on Red River <br />from Index, Arkansas to Denison Dam would be of major benefit <br />to the entire area of Northeast Texas, Southeast Oklahoma and <br />Southwest Arkansas; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Corps of Engineers has made a study of <br />bank stabilization and now a proposal is being made to urge <br />Congress to make a restudy for bank stabilization and navigation; <br />and, <br />WHEREAS, it will be necessary for each State involved to <br />sign assurances with the; Corps of Engineers for the State's <br />share of the cost; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Red River Authority has been created by <br />the Legislature and has ample authority to negotiate and sign <br />contracts with the Corpos of Engineers; and, <br />WHEREAS, Bowie County, Red River County and Lamar <br />County were not included in the legislative act; and, <br />WHEREAS, it would be advisable for the three counties to <br />be included whereby the Red River Authority could negotiate and <br />sign assurances with the Corps of Engineers to realize the ulti- <br />mate completion of bank stabilization and navigation on Red River <br />from Index, Arkansas to Denison Dam; NOW, THEREFORE, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF PARIS, That the Legislature of the State of Texas be urged <br />and requested to amend the act creating the Red River Authority <br />to include Bowie, Red River and Lamar Counties. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution <br />be sent to Senator Ed Howard and Representatives Hamp Atkinson <br />and L. P.
