Mr. James Evans has been maintaining our radios
and other equipment approximately 22 years. I was unable to find any written
agreement that established the contract. The verbal contract was up -dated ap-
proximately three years ago under the previous City Manager's tenure. In study-
ing the present arrangement it is felt that we are receiving adequate maintenance
at a very nominal fee. It is also felt that competitive bids should be obtained
for any future radio maintenance. It can be expected that this cost will be at
a higher amount.
After discussion, a motion was made by Councilman Kohls, seconded by Councilman
Wortham to table the item. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays.
Mayor Malone announced that the Council would go into executive session and the
regular session was declared closed, and the executive session open.
City Attorney Haynes discussed claims and legal matters with the Council, also
discussed was the contract with Lamar County for Emergency Medical Service.
Mayor Malone declared the executive session closed and the regular session open.
A motion was made by Councilman Burnett, seconded by Councilman Francis to continue
to offer Ambulance service to persons outside the City of Paris, and within Lamar
County under an intergovernmental contract which provides for the cost of Ambulance
service to all citizens of Lamar County on a shared cost basis of 40% Lamar County,
60% City of Paris with service outside the City of Paris being terminated effective
midnight August 31, 1980 in the absent of an agreement with the Lamar County
Government and that notice of such termination be published beginning August 15,
1980.
