f <br />Mr. Gary Barolet expressed an opinion that the City should take over all <br />the residential pick up or "get out of the business ". <br />After considerable discussion, a motion was made by Councilman Williams, <br />seconded by Councilman Burnett to leave the trash collection system operated <br />by the City as is, and not to enter into the recommendations of the Committee. <br />The motion carried 6 ayes, 1 nay, Councilman Kohls voting nay. <br />Mayor Malone called for a report of the Committee appointed to study the rate <br />increase request of Midwest Video. Councilman Kyle, Chairman of the Committee, <br />recommended on behalf of the Committee that the rate increase be approved in <br />the amount of 250, and more specificly that the rates for those persons <br />holding a contract with Midwest Video be increased from $4.00 to $5.00 per <br />month and those not holding a contract with Midwest Video be increased from <br />$4.95 per month to $6.25 per month, and Commercial be increased to $8.00 <br />per month and all additional connections for contract holders and non - contract <br />holders be increased to $1.50 per month. <br />Mr. Robert McWhirter, Attorney for Midwest Video, appeared before the Council <br />in behalf of the rate request. <br />After discussion a motion was made by Councilman Burnett, seconded by Council- <br />man Wortham authorizing preparation of an Ordinance and called for a public <br />hearing at the next regular Council meeting based on the recommendation made <br />by the Committee. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />City Manager Sokoll advised the Council of the expiration of a lease of <br />Midwest Video Corporation occupying City owned tract of land for location <br />Of its tower. City Manager Sokoll recommended that the City enter into a <br />lease with an increase from $300.00 per year to $500.00 per year and that <br />consideration be given for a shorter term lease than the 25 year term in <br />the expiring lease. After discussion, a motion was made by Councilman <br />Burnett, seconded by Councilman Williams authorizing preparation of a lease <br />for 25 years at $500.00 per year. The motion carried 6 ayes, 1 nay, Council- <br />man Kohls voting nay. <br />Mayor Malone called for a reading of a Resolution concerning establishing <br />the Crape Myrtle as the official flower of the City-of Paris. <br />Resolution No. 2058 designating the Crape Myrtle as the official flower of <br />the City of Paris, Texas was presented. A motion was made by Councilman <br />Burnett, seconded by Councilman Williams for adoption of the Resolution. <br />The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />
