r <br />i <br />Following discussion, Councilman Williams made a motion to approve the program <br />as presented. Councilman Burnett seconded the motion which carried 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Malone announced the next order of business would be consideration of <br />Airport Board recommendations. <br />A Commercial Operator's Permit for Aero Dust and Supply was unanimously approved <br />on a motion by Councilman Williams, seconded by Councilman Burnett. <br />A Commercial Operator's Permit for James Howell was unanimously approved on a <br />motion by Councilman Burnett, seconded by Councilman Wortham. <br />A Commercial Operator's Permit for Metroflight, Inc. was unanimously approved on <br />a motion by Councilman Burnett, seconded by Councilman Williams. <br />The Airport Board's recommendation to increase open hanger rental rates from <br />$35.00 to $45.00 per month and enclosed hanger rental rates from $55.00 to <br />$65.00 per month was unanimously approved on a motion by Councilman Williams, <br />seconded by Councilman Burnett. <br />City Manager Sokoll read a statement explainina the mission of the Paris Public <br />Library. The Council, on a motion by Councilman Burnett, seconded by Council- <br />man Williams, voted unanimously to endorse the mission statement. <br />Mayor Malone introduced Mrs. Clara McLaughlin who explained her group's intention <br />to open an operate a television station in Paris which would be a sister station <br />to one in Longview. She stated the station would be affiliated with a major network <br />but would provide air time for local news and other local programming. A 15 -20 <br />acre site will be needed for a broadcast tower she stated. She requested the <br />Councilmen to fill out a community needs questionaire and thanked them for their <br />time. <br />Mayor Malone stated the next item was consideration of the request of the Lamar <br />County Water Supply District to purchase additional water in the amount of 600 <br />million gallons per year. Don McLaughlin was present along with Alton Dockery <br />representing the LCWSD stating they were there to answer any questions the <br />Council might have. Mr. Dockery briefly explained the reason for the request <br />and advised the Council that an application had been filed with the Farmer's <br />Home Administration for a 1.5 million dollar loan to accomplish expansion of <br />their system. <br />Following discussion, Mayor Malone appointed a committee consistiirig of Councilman <br />Francis, Burnett and Williams to study the request and make recommendations to <br />the Council. Mr. Dockery expressed an interest in meeting with the Committee. <br />Mayor Malone declared the public hearing open on assessment for street improvements <br />on 7th N. W. and on Pine Mill Road. <br />Bill Harrell Manager of the Palace Drug Store, asked if the 7th Street Project <br />had been completed. He said that some work still needed to be done inside the <br />east curb line along their property and on the north driveway entrance to their <br />property. <br />Delma Bunch ask the amount of his assessment for 7th N. W. and was advised there <br />was none as curb and gutter was existing along his property at the time of con- <br />struction. <br />
