MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />February 18, 1980 <br />The special meeting of the City Council of the City of Paris was held Monday <br />February 18, 1980 at 5:15 P. M. Mayor Malone called the meeting to order <br />with the following Councilmen present: George Fisher, Jr. Walter F. Williams, <br />Billy Joe Burnett, Ronald Kyle, and W. C. Francis. Also present were City <br />Manager, Robert W. Sokoll, City Attorney, T. K. Haynes, and City Clerk, H. C. <br />Greene. <br />Mayor Malone stated that the special Council meeting was called for the purpose <br />of a policy review regarding the Emergency Medical Service operations. Mayor <br />Malone presented a report of the Ambulance Committee as follows: <br />REPORT OF AMBULANCE COMMITTEE <br />Recommendations: <br />1. Reaffirm City policy of making every reasonable effort to collect for <br />services rendered from the responsible party. <br />2. Reinstated policy of accepting assignments for payment from Medicare - <br />Medicaid recipients - that the amount received from Medicare - Medicaid for <br />emergency and medically necessary calls will be accepted and the responsible <br />part will receive no further bill (in accordance with Federal Law) - that <br />the City will continue to cooperate in filing for M & M and will make every <br />effort to transmit necessary data provided by the cooperation of the patient <br />or nursing home in order to establish proof of emergency or medical necessity. <br />3. After making reasonable effort to collect <br />in the event the claim is refused by M & M the <br />the full amount for the service.
