w <br />797 <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2496 <br />AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE DATE FOR A PUBLIC HEARING ON PROPERTY ON BLAKE ROAD, <br />FROM EAST EDGE OF PAVEMENT IN FITZHUGH AVENUE( 9TH STREET, N. E.) APPROXIMATELY <br />3500 FEET EASTERLY TO WEST EDGE OF PAVEMENT IN 20TH STREET, N. E., IN THE CITY <br />OF PARIS, TEXAS; DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK OF THE CITY OF PARIS TO PUBLISH THE <br />SAME THREE (3) TIMES IN THE PARIS NEWS AS REQUIRED BY LAW; APPROVING AND ACCEPT- <br />ING THE FINAL ESTIMATE OF COSTS AND CONSTRUCTION PLANS OF SUCH STREET IMPROVEMENTS <br />AS FILED BY THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS OF THE CITY OF PARIS; FIXING THE CHARGES <br />TO BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE ABUTTING PROPERTY OWNERS AND THE CHARGES TO BE PAID <br />BY THE CITY OF PARIS; AND WITH THE INTENTION OF FIXING A CHARGE AND LIEN AGAINST <br />THE REAL AND TRUE OWNERS OF SAID PROPERTY AND AGAINST THE SAID PROPERTY ITSELF. <br />was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Fisher, seconded by Councilman <br />Williams for adoption of the Ordinance. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mr. Richard Babb, Consulting Engineer for the 34th Street N. E. Drainage Project <br />appeared before the Council and presented plans for the final phase of the 34th <br />Street N. E. Project, and recommended that the City advertise for bids. After <br />discussion a motion was made by Councilman Williams seconded by Councilman Kyle <br />approving the plans and authorizing the advertisement of bids. The motion <br />carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Malone called for the reading of an Ordinance setting the rate of Residence <br />Homestead Exemption on persons 65 years of age or older. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2497 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, PROVIDING THAT THE CODE OF <br />ORDINANCES, CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, BE AMENDED BY REVISING SECTION 28 -3 <br />AND 28 -4 OF SAID CODE; PROVIDING FOR A RESIDENCE HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION FOR THE <br />ELDERLY; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; <br />AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF APRIL 14, 1980. <br />was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Fisher, seconded by Councilman <br />Williams for adoption of the Ordinance. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Malone called for the reading of a Resolution authorizing an Inter -local <br />Agreement with the Paris Independent School District on the appointment of a <br />Board of Equalization. <br />Resolution No. 2018 resolving the City Council of the City of Paris and the <br />Board of Trustees of Paris Independent School District, that they do hereby <br />agree to cooperate in the forming of a Joint Board of Equalization to perform all <br />tasks necessary and required by the laws of the State of Texas for each of said <br />political subdivisions and in accordance with the inter -local contract attached <br />hereto as Exhibit A. A motion was made by Councilman Fisher, seconded by Council- <br />man Farris for adoption of the Resolution. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />
