a <br />Mr. Griffin advised the Council that the Traffic Commission had again denied the <br />request for loading zone on the lest side of the 0 -100 block of North Main Street. <br />Mayor Malone called for a motion to approve or deny the request for.the loading <br />zone, and received no motion. Mayor Malone declared no action and therefore a <br />denial of the loading zone request. <br />City Manager Sokoll advised the Council that the Traffic Commission had recommended <br />the placement of stop signs in four locations: on 8th N.E. at Blake Road; on <br />Morningside Drive at Loop 286; on Dawn Drive at Loop 286; on Campbell Street at 7th <br />Street N.W. After discussion a motion was made by Councilman Burnett, seconded by <br />Councilman Fisher to approve the recommendation of the Traffic Commissiol, Motion <br />carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Malone presented a letter to the Council from the Girl Softball League of Paris, <br />Inc., signed by Mrs. Donna Irvin, President of the Softball League requesting the <br />City to pay the electric bill for the softball field located on the Oak park United <br />Methodist Church property at 2515 Bonham Street. Mr. John Hanna, a membeh of the <br />Board of Directors of the Softball League, appeared before the Council in behalf of <br />the request stating that females age 13 through 18 would be participating in the <br />program; that they were 13 teams in the 3rd year of play; and estimated that the <br />electric light bill would be $30.00 per hour. Mr. Hanna advised that the field was <br />used five nights per week. <br />After discussion a motion was made by Councilman Wunsch, seconded by Councilman <br />Burnett to approve.the request. Motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Malone announced that the next item on the agenda for consideration was the <br />request of Texas Power & Light Company for rate increase. City Manager Sokoll advised <br />that three alternatives were available to the Council. 1. Do nothing and-the Public <br />Utility Commission rate would coo into effect June 26th. 2. Pass the Utility Commission <br />rate ordinance and it will be effective June 26th. 3. Pass Touche- Ross - recommended <br />rate ordinance or a lesser rate ordinance and it.will be appealed by Texas power & <br />Light Company and the TUC will probably rule that the Public Utility Cohnission rate <br />ruling would apply'. <br />Mr. Travis King, District Manager' bf Texas power $ Light Company appeared befo�"e the <br />Council requesting approval of tare amended rato structure which &llowed the Public <br />Utility Commission ruling. City.Clerk, Greene advised the Council that the amended <br />rate structure had been officially filed on June 8th 1978. City Attorney Haynes <br />advised that if the City Council took no action that the Public Utility Commission <br />authorized rate would no into effect, or that the Council could pass an ordinance <br />that reflects the Public Utility rate, or that the City Council could pass the <br />Touche -Ross or a lesser rate. City Attorney Haynes recommended that the Public <br />Utility Commission rate be affirmatively approved by the Council placing that rate <br />in effect on June 26, 1978. <br />Councilman Philley made a motion that the rate recommended by the Touche -Ross report <br />be approved. Mayor Malone called for a second to the motion. No second was received <br />and the motion failed. <br />
