ic- �_°i i-i. <br />Mayor Malone called for the Resolution repealing the 1% City Sales Tax on <br />residential gas and electricity. <br />Resolution No. 1885 repealing the 1% City Sales Tax on the residential use <br />of gas and electricity to be effective October 1, 1978 was presented. A <br />motion was made by Councilman Williams, seconded by Councilman Farris for <br />approval of the resolution. The motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. ,. <br />RESOLUTION 1\10. 1885 . <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris is aware <br />of the tax burden placed upon its citizens; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris is desirous <br />of providing tax relief when it is possible to do so without <br />reduction of service below the- standard demanded and deserved <br />by the citizens of Paris; . and, <br />WHEREAS, the Legislature of.the State of Texas did at its'"' <br />called session this year enable .city governing bodies, by a <br />majority vote, to exempt residential use of gas and electricity <br />from t",— 1% City Sales Tax, said exemption to become effective . <br />October 1, 1978; NOW, THEREFORE, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />That the 1% City Sales Tax on the residential.use of gas and <br />electricity be repealed as of October 1, 1978; and, <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the City Clerk of the City of <br />Paris is hereby directed to transmit by certified mail, post- <br />marked no later than September.10, 1978, a certified copy of <br />this resolution to.the Comptroller of Public Accounts. <br />Passed and adopted this 28th day of August, 1978. <br />ichael E.
