Mayor Brunette stated due to the amendment of the request that perhaps thc <br />application should be referred back to the Planning and Zoning Commission for <br />further consideration. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Fisher, seconded by Councilman Malone to refer <br />this application back to the Planning and Zoning Commision for additional <br />consideration. <br />Mayor Brunette announced the next order of business would be to consider the <br />Traffic Commission recommendations. Consideration was given authorizing repeal <br />of Ordinance No. 2363 establishing a 4 -way stop at Fitzhugh Avenue and Clement Road. <br />City Manager Greene reported that the Traffic Commission had recommended repeal - <br />of the ordinance after reviewing traffic accident reports and improvement of site <br />clearance at the intersection. <br />Councilman Philley stated that site clearance to the East is still not as it <br />should be but if it were cleared up and kept that way additional stop signs would <br />not be necessary. <br />Police Chief Loyd Mathews stated that only one accident occured involving north- <br />bound traffic on Fitzhugh at this intersection. <br />Councilman Williams made a motion to authorize preparation of an ordinance <br />repealing Ordinance No. 2323 which provided for a four way stop at the inter- <br />section of Fitzhugh Avenue and Clement Road. <br />Councilman Wunsch seconded the motion which carried 7 ayes, no nays. <br />Consideration was given to an ordinance establishing 35 MPH speed limit on 33rd <br />Street S.E. from Clarksville Street to Lamar Avenue. The Traffic Commission had <br />recommended that the speed limit remain 30 MPH after hearing comments from <br />residents along 33rd S.E. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Wunsch, seconded by Councilman Fisher to leave <br />the speed limit on 33rd S.E. from Clarksville Street to Lamar Avenue at 30 MPH. <br />The motion carried 7 ayes, no nays. <br />City Attorney Haynes presented petitions rfor rezoning from Eric Lee Jordan on <br />Lots 24, 25 and 26, Block 2 of Hodges and Talkington Partition from 2 -F District <br />to General Retail District, W. M. House on Lots 2, 3 & 9, City Block 257 from <br />SF -2 District to MF -1 District, Mrs. Charles McEwin on Lot 1 -A, City Block 112 -F <br />from 2 -F District to Neighborhood Service District and Ben Caudle on Lot 13, Block <br />4, Toland Addition from 2 -F to Neighborhood Service District. <br />Mayor Brunette referred the petitions to the Planning and Zoning-Commi §sign for <br />study and recommendation and called for public hearings at the next regular <br />Council meeting. <br />Consideration was then given to a resolution authorizing quit claim deeds covering <br />alleys in Westside Addition which were previously closed by the City Council. <br />Resolution No. 1852 was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Wunsch, <br />seconded by Councilman Malone for the adoption of the resolution. The motion <br />carried 7 ayes, no nays. <br />
