MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING OF THE CITY OF PARIS <br />y:5 <br />October 23, 1978 <br />The Special Council meeting of the City of Paris was held Monday, October 23, <br />1978, 5:30 P. M. Mayor Malone called the meeting to order with the following <br />Council Members present: B. J. Barnett, Jim Farris, George Fisher, jr,, <br />Raymond Ifunsch, halter F. Williams. Also present were City Manager, Robert <br />W. Sokoll, City Clerk, H. C. Greene, and City Attorney, T. K. Haynes. <br />Mayor Malone announced that the special meeting was called for the purpose <br />of receiving a drainage report from the Engineering Firm of Lockwood, Andrews, <br />and Newnam, Inc. <br />Mr. William Cole and Mr. Darrell Gunn appeared before the Council in behalf <br />of the Consulting Engineering firm and presented plans on the northwest and <br />northeast drainage improvements for the City of Paris. Mr. Cole advised <br />that his firm would prepare contract specifications and bid documents <br />after all plans were approved. <br />After review by the Council of the 19 page plan as presented by the Engineer- <br />ing Firm, a motion was made by Councilman Burnett, seconded by Councilman <br />Fisher to accept the engineering report. Motion carried 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mr. Calvin Gibson, employee of the City Manager's office working on right <br />of way acquisition, appeared before the Council and presented a progress re- <br />port on right of way acquisition on the Blake Road project. Mr. Gibson <br />stated that 32 property.owners had accepted the City's offer and were ready <br />to close right of way deeds; and 11 property owners have not accepted the <br />original offer and that 13 property owners were either deceased or un- <br />available to negotiate a deed, and would probably have to be condemned. <br />City Manager Sokoll and City Attorney Haynes advised the Council of an <br />agreement with General Electric Corporation concerning the G. E. Contract <br />for purchase of certain electrical appurtenances for the pump and motors <br />at the water, treatment plant. City Attorney Haynes advised that the company <br />stated that engineering cost had not been included in their quotation; that <br />the cost would be approximately $1,100.00 and that an agreement had been <br />reached with the City of Paris to perform such services not to exceed $550.00 <br />There being no other business, the meeting adjourned. <br />MICHAEL E.
